hey i have an APY S3 and when i start it now the engine bogs down then cuts out. theres no odd signs when driving it, just when its idling its a little bit lumpy. smells like it is overfueling aswell but not really sure, just had a remap from jbs could this cause it? or any other reasons?

many thanks
tom

Get it scanned/logged as the first port of call, as this should help to identify the issue. Loads of people willing to help with that via the link in my sig.

Does it sound like a Subaru and check engine light on dash? If so, might be a missfire. Check spark plugs/coils, but scan is in order here.

sound like a scooby lmao !!
more like a massey ferguson :)

doesnt sound any different to normal or drive differently, no warning lights and had a quick scan with a friends obd11 fault checker and nothing, but thanks for the help i will try and get hold of someone with a full vagcom setup, also thinking it may be a split pcv hose? as its leaking a tiny bit of oil

tom

coilpacks make it sound like a scobby

get it scanned, my guess is speed/crank sensor

Dazboss had a CSS issue at AITP as well. Motor wouldn't start at all. Wiggle of the wire got it back working again, but still the CSS.

Fortunately Tuffty brought his laptop and COM cable.

If it is running fine but lumpy and crap on idle and smell of fuel, sounds like mine was when i first got it.
Scan first to see if there is anything going on there.
second check all your hoses. start from the intake manifold and check all the hoses coming off it. I have APY too, I had burst hoses all over the shop.

When you say leaking a tiny bit of oil, do you mean there is evidence of oil around the place but no evidence of a leak on an oil line? There is a hose from the bottom of the intake manifold in the centre (just behind dipstick guide tube) down to the PCV. On mine this had split and was spraying a bit ov oily vapour over the place.

Ross the issues outlined above wont be down to a boost/vacuum leak fella...they wont make it cut out like it is doing

hey will get it scanned im in bournemouth/southampton area if anyone is down? i know there is a tiny split in the crank breather pipe i think so that will be sorted the a ccs?

thanks sooo much!!!

The issues he described above (fuelly smell, crap idle but driving okay normally, no warnings etc) were exactly what I had and fixing the PCV, FPR, and DV hoses made it go away.

Perhaps you are right though fella.

Yeah that really narked me off. It wasn't nice getting it out ether. But its fixed now.

I've had a brand new Seat Ibiza 1.2 3cly 8v this week while mine is in the bodyshop :) runs on fresh air :) (temping).

only reason i mention doood is that it wont solve the main problem, speed sensor can cause running similar to that too so just thought best get the starting issues out the way first.... ;)

I would recommend checking the expansion tank for hydrocarbons, takes 1 minute and it will rule out the head gasket for definite

I spent a lot of money trying to fix my dodgy starting, everytime i changed a part it's ok for a few days then it'll start again

i get an accassional cut out after its started. immobiliser light flashing on the dash
