1.8T Sport cuts out

Hey there, this is my first post here so hello to everyone.

I am having a bit of a problem with my a3 cutting out when I go to change gears. Can be going along quite happlily and then slow down for a junction, as soon as the clutch goes down to change down the gears the revs drop right off and the car sometimes stalls itself. Sometimes there is a loud grating noise at the same time, so I'm thinking maybe the clutch is slipping?Any ideas what the cause could be?

I had exactly the same problem,
I changed the MAF sensor and it was all fine then. give it a whirl!

Sorry, I'm a bit new to all this. What is a MAF sensor, is it expensive and is it the kind of thing I can do myself in an afternoon?
