Its been a very quiet winter for me, now its starting to warm up its time to get my **** into gear
I thought i would start with the little bits that have been bugging me
I had installed a boost gauge a while back but the LED bulb was always too bright, the reflection was on the driver side window which restricted view
Before
I tried Tinting the gauge but it looked horrible. As the gauge has a curved surface, getting the tint on proved harder than i thought. Decided to scrap that idea and go for a resistor. I chose the 1k2 resistor from maplin's for 32p and worked a treat
After 2 years i thought it was time to service my 007p, i ordered the forge kit which came with the revised piston.
DV apart:
Pics before service
Cleaned up - i also experienced the same wear as S3Paul did in his recent thread
Old v New
Results are a positive so far... The DV is sharper and feels very stable
Its only taken me 2-3 months but i was offered a Manifold which had been ported...Result!
All booked in with Ben at Parsons Performance (Great chap and i must applaud his work ethic)
Old Manifold
While i was there i got a boost leak issue sorted (Ben actually spotted a split on the N75 pipe)
attempted to re-fit the fmic pipe as it sat to high causing it to rub against the bonnet... I had ordered all the pipes (as reesy posted above) for Ben to weld. He did a cracking job, unfortunately someone had brought the wrong length pipe so it was a bit short. Back to the original pipe until Ben can weld up a new one for me...
Next up was PCV delete and fitting a catch can
I brought one of these ebay cans about a year ago and thought it was time to get it fitted.
Thanks to Dave for producing some quality Stainless steel 19mm pipes!
I will have this setup to vent to atmos, i had ordered some oil grade 19mm internal diameter pipes. Instead of 3/4" they sent me 5/8" pipes so Ben had to make do with pipes i had lying around to temporarily fit the catch can.
Took the car for a test run and you can feel it feeling stronger through the mid range. It just seems to flow really well. Over the Moon!!!
Car is all booked into Rtec for Stage 2..
I have just brought 305cc yellow top injectors from a Vauxhall calibra (Part number:0280150420) and a 3" VR6 MAF (Part number: 021 906 462A) Nick reckons this will help so worth a go...
