Maybe another slight engine tweak...

do you have a timed 70 to 120 ? that's always a good benchmark? and quite easy and safe to do on a quiet motorway

Weight and near enough 40bhp. A B5 RS4 would more then likely out-brake welly, and probably out-handle it as well, but that's another matter

defo out brake it, he wouldn't stand a chance there, i know he is lighter, but the rs4 has wider tyres and the discs are HUGE, 380mm i believe

i know it sounds silly but i cant actually remember how my s3 felt LOL, the rs4 mind, even on 11 year old suspension still handles like it is on rails!

Nope, because to be honest I have never felt the need! lol. I will do when I get 5 mins for a laugh.

make it a 100 to 200 so 62 to 124, then have a look on audisrs to see how your car compares, it's quite amazing what you can actualyl get out of the 1.8t's

lol at this discussion.

its clear RS4 are the ultimate driving machines are they not?

not sure if you are trying to be sarcastic or not lol!!!

but if you're not, it puts a smile on my face !

A properly sorted S3 would probably out brake the RS4 as the 365mm dual pot calipers are good for one high speed stop at best as the RS4 weighs in at over 1700 KGs, S3's are around 1500 KGs from memory . The RS4 has power, no one can argue this, but it's a heavy old barge out of the box, and wallowy and understeery at best.

I'd put money on it being a close run thing.

RS4 comes in at 1620kg, s3 around 1465kg i think? but who is on about sorted S3? in stadard from the rs4 stops a fair bit quicker than an s3

as for under steer, you're trying to say a car with 50/50 split awd will under steer more than a 90/10 ?? i have hands on experience with this and i can certainly say the s3 has a much higher rate of under steer when compared to an rs4

I may or may not have been... lol

RS4 is what I want next.... but it will be 8 cylinders cos anything less is'nt quite a full engine.. hehe

i looked at the v8's, but price was a little too much, i could have maybe stretched to it, but not having a turbo and the fact that hardly any of them make their quoted power output, i decided i wanted an rs4 b5, i'll also loose a lot less on depreciation to and the b5 is alot rarer !

I too have first had experience with the torsion system. I cannot believe that you are dismissing the effect that having a huge V6 slung in front of the headlights is going to have.

Anyway, sorry for the off topic Welly

LOL @ the posts, i actually have an interest for what welly is doing in all honesty, turning a 225 bhp car into a 410 / 330 is an achievement in my eyes and put's people like 16kalppe in their place when it comes to the s3 / a3 debate

and as for an s3 having less understeer than an rs4, that's just comical

welly - i will soon have 500 / 500 with the mods i have lined up, stock turbo's too so no change in lag !

Hybrid turbos are required for that power level....

plenty of lads on the srs forum running 500bhp on sock turbos....

de cat, miltek or alike, filter, uprated intercoolers and a decent remap will pretty much see you there, add a water / meth injection kit and you've done it, there's enough evidence to prove this, when they start changing their turbo s they start hitting 600+

Anyway, this thread is not about what an RS4 will remap to is it really?

Being the 8L section - I'm not really sure it's the best place for this discussion... lol.

Not reliably I doubt... gonna be ringing the nuts off them to maintain that power level... most I have read about go for RS6 turbos...

True... back on topic now... any more RS4 discussion will be pruned :)

So, as promised - I will do some timing tests when I get AWD working again - as at the moment I get lots of wheels spin. In fact my new P Zeros are almost on the wear bars.

Wooden tyres FTW!!!

do it in 4th gear, that's what everyone else seems to do, i think the s3 can hit 124 in 4th ? well with your raised limiter it should

Useful list.

I may well get my mate to film it actually as proof - on a private road naturally.

I own several private roads which are lengthy.... lol.

v-box time :)

Will have to strap it on to mine after the weekend before Bill wants it back for the Ibiza lol

We never did organise that S3-off at a local airfield did we ;P

Well, I did, but then decided to change turbos (what a shocker!).

I would imagine the invite is still there, they seemed quite keen to be fair which was cool. Think it would have cost us about £20 each.

or here's another figure to compare it against

[h=1]Tony Schumacher 4.428 @ 327 MPH[/h]

LOLOLOLOL - imagine what that must feel like

lolololol at that vid

thing is, how on earth can that much petrol come out un burnt ? lol
