Ok it's been a few weeks now since i wrapped the S3, Bit delayed but here you go....

Insperation for the colour choice was the old skool light blue mk1 gti look and the GT3 RS in Riviera blue

Products used....

Autosmart G101
3M Surface preparation system
3M 85 series CV3 Premium cast vinyl ( light blue for the main body & gloss black for the detailing)

So I started off by flatting back the front bumper otherwise it would of looked like an ad for clearacell, ill get it painted again when i go for a colour change, didn't have time due to the out-gassing needed with new paint as the solvents will eat away at the adhesive.

So this is how she looked after a little sanding and a soapy wash looks like a confused snow leopard

Then Started the strip out, wont go into much detail as im sure this is all a bit boring

after stripping we then gave all areas to be wrapped a good clean with G101, wipe clean, then repeat the process with the 3M prep system. the good thing i like about using 3M's PS is you can see it once applied, so you know when its all removed.

Anyway lets gett this sucker Wrapped

First off we started on the bonnet, Jimmy takes the left as he's a south paw and i take the right as im normal

On a colour change we wrap each panel individually, pre post heat, cut in, then post heat.

Then the wings

We then measure out enough vinyl to do the whole side of the vehicle with a good amount of overhang, two reasons for this, it gives us something to hold onto when applying so wee don't touch the area that going on to the vehicle. also when we cut out the door section we have enough left to be able to use on the door.

Then the 3/4's.

Then the tail gate

Then the bumpers

Then is was time for the finiky stuff, grill surround, rear defuser, door blades.

Throw it all back together and its looking like this

and a few from AITP

Fitted the Audi shark fin that I bagged off my mate... love free stuff

So that's how she currently sitting on the kw's with the S4's still in two minds weather to go black on the wheels but think the S4's look better in silver so maybe a change is on the cards....... wheel see

What ya think peep's ??

I Know it wont be to everyone's taste and it took me a few weeks to get used to it but its getting the attention when out and about so its doing its job...

How much is a vinyl wrap like that?

Say on a Mk2 Scirocco?

And how long would you expect it to last ?? do you polish and wax it like normal paint ?? it looks really good, i like the colour too, i thought the pic on your sig had been photoshoped lol

Install usually 3 to 4 days, as we let the car and vinyl acclimatise to the unit after the de grease for 12 hrs, then we let it stand for 12hrs after so 1 we can check adhesions and so the vinyl dont go into shock.
Iv used 3m cv3 Wich is the top end stuff in the industry. price wise Yr looking @ £1300 ish but we do a little asn discout
Durability, as we install to 3m's spec to the letter we offer a 5 Yr warrenty on all 3m app's with a 6 to 8 Yr expectancy, but that really depends on aftercare. Hope this helps

Aftercare, wash and polish as normal really, I usually use meg's quick detailer for ease.

That looks lovely, Damo! Great choice of colour and it really suits the car. Lot of work, but well worth it for sure. Nice job! x

Really nice colour mate, would you say it was defiantly worth the money then?

Car looks spot on mate, didnt like it to start with but its grown on me and think it looks mint.
Think it need some black wheels for defo but not the s4's, like you said they look better in silver.

Spoke to you about the car at AITP mate, and you knew my thoughts then. Looks just as good in the flesh. Definitely don't spray the s4 rims, but I think your car would look better with satin CH's anyways.

Did you change the springs whilst it was being wrapped, as it looks lower after the wrap then it did when it was black?

looks good...better in the flesh

Looks sharpe in the photo's and I have to say, quite sharpe in the flesh also, since 8L S3's didn't come in this colour, it's very unique.

S4 wheels HAVE to be silver I'm afraid. so they must stay.

Your car would look epic with black / anth wheels, but the S4's must remain black.

Love the wrap though!

WOW!!!

Dude that looks amazing, I love that colour as well, its such an original colour, my uncle has recently had his Camper Van done in the same colour.

Yeh i would say so, but then again im bound to lol, the paint protection alone is priceless imo, but its different and i like that also.

you and me both dani took me a while to get used to it but i think ill like it more with black wheels. but i dont think i can bring myself to spray the s4's

Amazing to see the process, thats some skill there well done. It looked superb at aitp.
Kind words dude, cheers

Ye had the kw's fitted just after

looks good...better in the flesh
Deffo agree there the camera don't like the colour... so haed to get it right, either shows the colour to be to light or to dark.

Cheers man ye i agree totally, always been a sucker for ch's even though they been done to death. been looking at the
Nuespeed rse14's also but i think they only do them in 19's

thanks guys

It looks great but there's always one thing that bugs me about wrapping/respraying cars and thats when the interior is a different colour (although you can get away with it being black).

That looks awesome, love the colour!

I actually like the silver wheels on the car, but then i'm not a fan of black wheels.

Excellent job, well impressed with how the wrap has gone on.

Good choice of colour, and another one in favor of the wheels/colour, I'd leave it how it is, looks cool

Ye I get you there dude. Looks well when you have contrasting colours, we do wrap door shuts but we don't advise it as you have overlaying joins and can't warranty the inners due to the build up of grease n grime. But at the end of the day it's classed as a semi perm colour change and is not a respray also it's cheaper

hmmm thats my dilemma haha

cheers dude i really can't decide.

that looks fab pal great work and fantastic finish and post

Aye hence why I wrapped my roof and mirrors - can always take it off if need be mirrors need redoing though. As long as there is a decent colour contrast, the inside/engine bay original colour doesn't bother me as such. But when you have a green car and a blue interior then it looks silly - even if it's hidden under the carpet it's one of them things that you know is there lol

Top work anyways!

Did you do just springs mate, or shocks as well?
Kw v1's all round dude, by the way how's Yr mom

Amazing skills,, a credit to you and the company...
After seeing what you turn out Dave thats a bit ott

that looks fab pal great work and fantastic finish and post
Cheers bro

Exactly and you don't need to tell the DVLA which makes me laugh, yeh you do see some rank colours getting covered, liking the orange there nice and different.

Love that!!!
back at ya!! Looks mint.

love the colour dude, car looks mint!

Yeah it's confusing one ain't it because effectively the car hasn't 'changed' colour

Cheers Damo - was hit and miss at first but once the mirrors were on I was chuffed

Ye id like to know how they let us get away with it cos from the outside it's visibly a different colour, and also how many ringers are flying around wrapped lol

Like this alot Looks lovely fella! Got to be the first 8L in that colour?
Good work.

Cheers ash, it very well may be the only one I spent ages searching for images, but none to be found.

Erm that all depends on the paintwork condition before the wrap... if good and solid there would be no damage 99.9% of the time but i paint is lifting in areas you would expect it to pull it off when de-wrapping.

Ill get some recent pics up soon as i get chance..

Looks so amazing I love that colour!!!!!!

I think your black grill, skirts and rear bumper and roof finish it off so well and make it stand out even more with such a better contrast.

Love to get mine wrapped! WHITE!!!!! Although is it Chavy? Not sure....
