Hey guys!

So on replacing my LED bulbs - when I pulled one side out the LED actually came off from the holder and into the headlight lens - doh! Funny yes, but now looks a bit silly with a led bulb floating on the front of my headlight unit....

Does anyone know if they'll be attracted to magnets? If so thinking about using one of these through the main beam hole - Halfords | Laser Magnet & Claw Tool or I can see this being a bumper off job and taking the headlight out!

The joys! :)

Is there any circuit board or chips in there? I've got a Rolson hevy duty magnet and whenever I drop anything into the bay it's so strong even Stevie Wonder would be able to find the loose bit, and it should fit through a headlamp hole (has a flexi head on it). Got it from Tesco's of all places for a couple of quid and it's SO much stronger than my Halfords 'car aerial of the 80's style one!

Thanks - it's actually in the headlight lens reflector itself. When peer into the lens it's at the front sitting pretty. Theirs no circuit boards or chips in the front reflector part.

Interesting from Tesco? How random... Pants I've just realised the LED bulb has a plastic base so it won't be attracted to the magnet at all! Bumper off job then and headlight shaking game to get it out the hole haha! Cheers though. :)

Ouch, not a pretty job in this weather! Best of luck.

Fran it will have some metal to it trust me, i did the other month, i got a telespoic magnet, snapped it in half and fed it through the sidelight hole, i then had to push it in and wiggle it about, it got it out though.

Same thing happened to me. My mechanic took the main bulb out and put the claw tool through it to get it out. If the claw can't reach the bulb, make a fist and use the bottom of your fist to knock the headlight from the outside quite hard and watch the bulb dance to where you want it :) Your hand might go a bit numb but you'll be fine lol.

Thanks guys looks like I may not need to take the bumper of after all - yay!

Same thing happened to me too last week.
Took the headlight unit out (left the xenon wires attached) and took the main beam bulb out the holder, then just tilted it upside down and wiggled it until the bulb fell out the hole. When it dropped in i was like nooooooo ill never get it out! But it only took 5 mins so not too bad after all :)

Coat hanger, and grabber (I had to adjust the grabber claws)

how about using some blue tack / silly putty / play doh / duct tape / electircal tape on a stick to get at it.
I never had this fun with a headlight, but this trick has saved my *** out of a couple of tight spots. The best one I've found is duct tape, but i tested them all :)

not exactly the same but guys help !!
I was putting in this evening led interior bulbs and I accidently touched the metal heat shield against the bulb contact on my vanity mirror..........
now I have NO interior lights at all,
I have checked all fuses and they are ALL fine ...
what has happened to my beloved s3 ,,, it was the last blessed bulb too and up until that point they looked lovely ....

I would check your fuses again. It's not likely to be much else other than a fuse if you're just changing the bulbs.
