Show Us Your Reflection Shots

So last week I scrubbed the tyres with a stiff brush as part of ther overall car detailing process. Applied two coats of Fireball Tyre Wax , the car wasnt driven till ther following day. Now on day eight...... Well all I can say is I'm really disappointed. Surely it should last longer than a week ?

My next door neighbour’s cat agrees with you mate - I took the lid off for a smell, went back in the garage and ‘my next pair of slippers’ kicked the whole bottle over the drive before I even had a chance to use it! Amazon order for night vision goggles and air rifle has been placed!

Oh really? I have been trying (not that hard) to get some fireball but been sold out, as comes so highly recommended. I am still on the megs, but saying that tyre brand does seem to make a big difference. Megs looks great on JCW p zeros, but only ok on Q5 contis.

There’s something in this - the dregs of my outgoing Megs didn’t do anything special for the Conti’s on my S3. Have to say I’m liking my new (Fireball replacement) Gyeon Q2m Tire dressing, a lot. Rich satin finish which can be layered for more depth (2 coats with a bit of sponge, 15 mins between coats to allow curing, and don’t bother to buff off) seems to work very well on Conti Sport Contact 5ps. Marketed as Si02 based, and supposed to be durable and hydrophobic (will report back on that claim once I’ve had it on for a couple of weeks without re-applying), but for now I can say it is very easy to apply and it dries/cures/bonds on the tyre as opposed to oil based gels such as the guff Megs Endurance which I liked until I knew better.

Gyeon suggest if you want increased durability you can harden it with a hair-dryer. ROFL - ain’t doing that, my neighbours think I’m bonkers enough with this car detailing lark as it is!

Pics don't do justice, this R222 wax takes the 'wet' look, depth and shine on the car to a whole new level. @jassyo06. I didn't have the time to do the correction so, in the end just washed, sealed and waxed the car.

Cheers buddy. It has light swirls on the roof and at the rear, which are doing me head in. Need to get rid of them before the winter kicks in

I know people have reservations about Megs tyre gel but I struggle to understand why. For me, I have been using it for the last 4-5 years and it works fine. I have done between 400-500 miles (in some cases more both local and motorway) in rain and clear weather and didn't come across any issues. I usually wash the tires with BH Surfex HD (diluted) using and £4.99 Halfrauds brush. It is usually one application and I use a lot and yet to find the overspray, which is very visible on a white car.

The one in the above picture had a total cure time of 1 hour before Mrs decided she had to go and meet a friend last night. I will report how long it lasts. I will also try to post a video of how they look when I wash next including how many miles.

I don't have an issue with Megs and over spray. It works a treat on the Mrs' P-Zero's, but try as I might I just don't get a decent shine on the massive Conti Sport SUV tyres on Q5. Will try some Perl next time as suggested by @jassyo06 . And before you say, I scrub the tyres loads with wheel brush before applying.

I am yet to try Perl, I have almost a full bottle so, will give it a go. I bought it to use it on the interior on the S4 and A3 but I prefer matte over shine so decided not to use it. Don't like shiny interior

In my view I think it can be down to the tyre make/brand and rubber material. I must admit (and I am probably going to negate what I said above) that I was never happy with them on the Contis that I had on my S4 when I bought it. And yes, I had overspray issue as well. Not on Michelins. Mrs' A3 came with Contis as well and while I couldn't tell the overspray on the dark colour the front would literally be back to normal black within a week or so. Rears would last slightly longer. And like the S4 I don't have any issues with the A3 now (Michelins as well).

Tyres on S4 have done more than 7k and A3 nearly 1.5-2k. I might start getting different results as the tyres start to wear with more mileage. I'll keep y'all posted.

Let me know when you use Perl and the ratios and I'll also give it a go either with the same or slightly different dilution ratio

Have only used Perl on engine bay trim, and has definitely not come up shiny at all. A nice matte black (as new).
Can't recall dilution ratio, but pretty clear on label from what I recall. So have a pre-mixed bottle for black trim now:

Kwik Fit mobile fitting have let me down today - just had a call saying they can’t get out to me with the right tyre until first thing Weds morning, but credit to them very apologetic and good communication/customer service + 25% discount to say sorry. Ho hum.

That looks like a great finish. Currently using Fireball on my tyres after recommendation from @jassyo06 and pleased with it so far. Maybe give Q2m a try next.

Cheers bud. The QDs and waxes kind of hide it but there are a few on the roof, bonnet and rear bumper that are doing me head in. I know it can never be 100% perfect but it gives us all a reason or an excuse to take out our tools, isn't it

What wax are you using at the minute?
Believe it or not the car was pretty dirty mate, wax....Fireball Fusion, it's a very good wax but it does not like being applied on top anything else so a clean slate is must, a jar will last at least a year . .. . .Best l wax l have used and Yip its worth it

Wash with Angelwax Enigma and topped off with Enigma QED:

Both do a great job, but QED very grabby, despite not using much, so needs more elbow grease than usual, which may be a good thing. Will feedback on longevity and beading etc.
