I just called AUDI WAtford to book the car in to diagnose a vibration I have. I'm glad I then asked the question will this involve any charges. Half an hour at 70 quid to put it on their vagcom. I asked if that was chargeable if they were unable to give a definitive diagnosis, to which I was told yes. My response was "but how can you charge for a diagnosis, when you haven't diagnosed anything?" the response I got was "because we put it onto our computer to check it for fault codes".
"but why would your default position be to diagnose it with the computer, when it might a problem that doesn't give a fault code"
"because thats the way we do it."

It seems to me that there is no sense of customer satisfaction, and just a way of earning an easy 70 quid for un-necessary work to be carried out! Thats boardering on being what I would expect a rogue trader to do!!!

I know there is no fault codes, so refuse to be robbed by the Audi thieves!

And to make it worse, even if they did find a fault and you wanted to pay them to repair it, they will still charge you the diagnostic fee on top of the repair costs. Chingford Audi do anyway.

70 sheets for half an hour? That's absolutely pathetic, is there nobody on the forum near you with Vagcom? There's a thread somewhere with people willing to help out for free/fuel cost - take the dealer a printout of the fault codes/lack of when you go in and tell them that they can skip that step.

I've already had it on the Vagcom after it went into limp mode. Gave me an over boosting code; so cleared code, took for a drive and recreated vibration, re-vag'd, No more codes. Manually checked actuator with mityvac. No issues with actuator. Many miles more, and it hasn't limped again, but still has a vibration, which I had before it limped the first time.

So, I thought the best next step would be to have someone who works on these day in, day out to cast an experienced eye, but all Audi seem to want to do is slide a large dry object into my anus!

That is ridiculous, speak to the service manager and kick up a fuss, it worked for me at camberley audi and now i get christmas cards from him!!

I don't suppose you know of any near the South Herts, Middlesex area?

that is the stupidest thing ive ever hurd, no wibration would be linked to anything that can be rectified by a diagnostic machine, dealers really wind me up total waste of time, no new part no idea, have you actualy got a engine management light on mate? when do you get a vibration ?

i feel sorry for all the people who just say yes to paying that money and people who only take there cars to main stealers robbing mo-fo's they all are

No, I've not had an engine management light on. Even when it went into limp mode there was no light! The bulbs probably blown!

I'll try call the service manager and see what he has to say.

Thanks for your replys Guys!

I guess they don’t have any customer satisfaction requirement, they are selling their expensive Audi car to customer by making false promise and when it comes to fulfill any problem, they ask for more charges. I think that’s how audi work at Watford state.. hopefully you will get solution from their customer care , if you get lucky.

IT support watford

My last audi ran up a £2.5k diagnostic bill and they still were not sure what the problem was.....see my top sig.

Makes VCDS look cheap, and almost a pre-requisite tool of Audi ownership in the modern era.

I won't say what I think about Audi service as I know one or two forum members find my opinion and candid honesty difficult to swallow! Let's just say they certainly could do better.

I'm happy to tell anyone what i think of Audi service !! Having spent £5k in their workshop 2 years ago i think i have bought the right to do so ( not to mention £50k in their showroom)
If they find the truth hard to swallow thats not my fault :)

Its totally disgusting !!!:end_of_discction:

Me too.

I've had some good and bad service with them but the bad was really bad. Like them breaking things and not mentioning it. Recently I was told by the service manager that he'd waivered a diagnostic charge because they didnt spend that long on it. No mention of this before I booked it in mind. I politely told him I would'nt have paid it anyway! The look he gave me says that generally their customers like to be shafted.

that's ridiculous. and also just as ridiculous is the fact that they charge 140 p/h labour! I had an issue the other day that needed scanning took it to my local audi and vag specialist/tuners and they scanned it for free! told me the fault code and suggested a way i could fix it. which it did... for a week and then it happened again, but i'm booked in for a full service on wed so they can have a look then.. but that is thoroughly ludicrous!

There seems to be an air of complacency within Audi Dealerships just now. I hope somewhere out there an employee of the company picks up on this thread and distributes it amongst their collegues. My experience is one of discust, so much so I refuse to even go near my local Dealer(s) which is Lomond Audi for those that are interested. Not only can't they diagnose a problem correctly they can't even acknowledge you when you go into their showroom with the intention of buying a 'New Audi' (and i was going to buy a Q3) they can't even be bothered to pick up the phone and return your call after enquiring about a new Audi!! If I do buy another Audi it sure won't be from an Audi dealership and so far VW are winning the race. So, if I don't hear from Audi within the next month bang goes £30K off their stuck up ego!!! And I thought there was a recession out there

Been scratching the new car itch myself recently and judging by the prices of used ATM, brand confidence is high. That doesn't excuse downright arrogance though.

Dealers no longer seem to care about customer service, it's all about money, money, money!!!

When i bought my new S3 i was asked on 3 separate occasions to fill out a survey on the person who handed me the survey, ie: the service manager and the salesman and the guy that tries to flog you all the bits i don't want. How do you rate a guy out of 10 when he is watching you and you want good service from him in future ?? I gave him 10 i should have given him 4 at best.

And if you'd given him 4 he'd have binned it!
