What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Pressing the left button on my a6 selects items in the dis, for example telephone numbers, radio stations etc. Pretty sure that’s what it does on most models I have driven.

Cheers. Yeah so on mine the nav button does nothing as if it isn’t connected and on the left up and down scroller that works but if I press it in then it does nothing whereas if I press the volume one in then it mutes the radio.

Same here. I suspect the standard Connects2 steering wheel controller and the patch cable is not coded to do this for Pioneer head units.

It’s always possible to use a programmable controller from PAC to do this but then you’ll have to do all the wiring yourself. Trade offs!

Anyway here’s a photo of my new setup in daytime. Well pleased with it so far despite the mode button not working.

The only thing that’s really hurting my OCD is the damn FL (2008-2010) button array.
They don’t line up properly at all!

Audi fixed it in 2010 but made all the buttons into one unit so to fit it in PFL cars, rewriting is required. I’m almost tempted to downgrade to the old style buttons now.

I want that flush mount fascia but not sure if it’s compatible with the Pioneer units that flip out ...

Does the front of you Pioneer flip out or detach. Interested in the facia surround as mine has two parts (as shown four posts up) which doesn’t look great but is needed as the front of the AVH X models needs to flip out to revel the SD slot.

Is that a Z model?

Apologies, only just seen this question. This one doesn't flip out or detach so it's just a simple flush fascia. It's an SPH model I believe?

I think you are right (looks like a z model) as it has an eject button on the bottom right which should lower the screen ... hmm I’ll go along to an audio place and ask ...

Is there a part number or model for that fascia?

Thx.

This one is slightly different to the one I bought as it’s accommodating a 7” screen.

I believe it’s this: http://www.metraonline.com/part/99-9109B

Reset the dsg and did a adaptation drive.

Box was getting a bit jerky pulling away and shifting into 3rd.

Now drives like a dream

I’ve done rest a couple of times but it doesn’t seem to last! What’s the adaptation drive you speak of?

Got my taillights tinted, I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but always thought the red just looked to bright against the black. Really happy with the result and transformed the back of the car (also helps it’s cleaner). Rear LEDs looks much sharper at night now as well.

Also upgraded the fog lights to match the DRL lights thanks to Trups. The colour looks ever so slightly different in pictures but in the flesh you can’t tell. They’re so much brighter which is perfect for the coming home lights. Removing the fog grill was such a PITA but worth it when finished.

Those rear lights could be an MOT fail as you now have no reflector on the rear.
Also, with winter weather upon us, do you really want to minimise peoples view of the rear of your car? I imagine those rear lights will be almost impossible to see in foggy conditions.

I used to stick on some reflectors for the mot, they had double sided tape on the back and just used to take them off after the test.

That was a good 8 years ago. Now think tinted rears look **** and date a car terribly

I got some off eBay a couple of year ago for literally a few quid. They’re still going strong and look the same colour as the led drl’s.

Some strong opinions :tearsofjoy: but each to their own. I was actually surprised at how little it affects the light output and living down south, can't say I'm worried about foggy weather. Had it serviced yesterday and they didn't raise in issues.

Fog lights were from @t8ups, £30 for the pair and as always no errors.

I wish I could say the same thing about fog lights supplied by t8ups as very annoyingly they threw CANBUS errors and the promised resistors have yet to materialise after almost a month.

Have you called t8ups on the landline just to remind the guy , just incase he has forgotten

Got the car a new set of wheels.

Not strictly an A3 but I changed the orange dip stick tube to the yellow version to match the yellow dipstick on our 2.0 TFSI TT. This was in preparation for doing my S3 next week as I wanted to find out what could go wrong!
No problem, all done for approx £7.00. Only tools you need is a 10mm spanner, a 4mm 1/4” socket, a strong cable tie to help pull out the old tube and something to help you push the new tube into place so it locates properly.
You would benefit from removing the engine cover for better access too.
Quite an interesting way to spend an hour!!

Car seat swap. Never been a fan of full leather and my amazing GF found an immaculate set of part leather seats and got them for me.
Today we braved the snow and fitted the new seats (front and rear) and they are so much better.

Put new tyres on, rainsport tyres at the front and I must say they are gooood! They are gripping in the rain and snow and hardly any wheelspin. Also done a four wheel alignment. Way better now.

I’ve been thinking of tinting and this place in Wandsworth was recommended to me: https://www.ssfilms.co.uk

£100 for the back and £120 for all around.
