cheers guys

Mintex/Pagid/Girling/Bosch will be fine unless you really abuse the brakes!

Having used the Redstuff...I wouldn't bother.

Squealed like pigs, and didn't offer any extra bite.

I use Mintex now,but would also recommend Ferodo.

How long ago was that ?

Couple of yrs ago.

I wouldn't use them again......using Mintex 1155 now but maybe a little beyond what most need.

Tyres and brake pads, it doesn't come anymore subjective.

I've got the reds both front and rear on a daily and front and rear again on a 300 bhp Jap coupe with 345 front and 320 rear brakes.

I love their cost, low dust, bite and performance.

Being a hard pad they take up to 1500 miles to bed and in that period they can be dusty and squeal.

Fast road only, not a track pad.

No idea on an A3/S3, but I used to use Mintex 1144s with Black Diamond discs on my VR6s.

Received my mintex m1144 for the front cost me £159 included delivery and planning on OEM for the rear
