8V VCDS Mods

That's what I thought, I've already got them coded open but would like to control it to avoid motorway drone without shelling hundreds on something like the Cete valve control :(

Hello guys. I have a couple of questions hoping that some helpful fella can answer. I coded my A3 8V FL for rain closing. Menu doesn't show up on MMI, however when I put my hand over rain sensor, windows are closing, but sunroof stays opened :( I don't get what I am doing wrong.

These things are overly expensive imo...

The AWE SwitchPath is £261 atm in the UK, though as when I orderd mine I ordered it from Haz Motorsport on eBay for £234, but there was no stock in the UK so the wait time was approx a month. I cancelled this order and decided to order it from USP Motorsports in America.

I paid $200 + 25 shipping which was £165, and after a bit of import tax it came in cheaper than it would have been ordering from the UK (and I think probaly a bit quicker).

Nothing. MMI menu and Sunroof inclusion are not supported. Window closing is the best you can get.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Should I deactivate menu adaptation on module then, or leave as it is :) I suppose it won't cause any DTC.

No, it’s needed for the feature to work. Menu is supported on other VAG brands I believe but not Audi.

Thank you. I won't touch it then. Just an additional question; Is there any way to reduce the horn volume of acoustic lock/unlock acknowledge? I don't have factory alarm so I am using vehicle's horn for lock/unlock beep. However it is too loud for nights.

No. Only thing you can do is activate the MMI toggle menu and turn it off before leaving the car.

Been looking at this and the apr version which is slightly cheaper.
Let us know how you get on. Been toying with this or res delete. Just worried res delete is more permanent and this is controllable.

I fitted the res delete first and the valve system after, had it for just under a year now. A bit annoying to press the open button every time I get in the car, I have the button stuck behind the drink holders.. But its very routine and I don't think anything of it.

There's no need to get this without a res delete imo as flaps open or shut from what I remember made little difference when cruising.

Hoping for some advice, I have a MY19 A3, when I try to enter any security code in any module I get an error saying ‘controller refused to send a seed’ error 00: unknown (0x00). Im using a HEX-V2 and tried both 19.1.2 and 18.9.1. Any ideas?

Edit; figures it out!! If you dont open the bonnet you aint getting in lol

@DJAlix Hey, after retrofitting FL LED headlight and BCM, been having couple of odd issues which are all ironed out, except for the cupholder ambient light.. Instead of linked to the footwell light which is controlled by MMI for brightness, the cupholder light turns on when the door is unlock regardless of headlight status, and it will go out in about a min after the car is locked... And brightness can't be controlled by MMI with footwell light.

I think there's several coding options on the BCM for the cupholder lighting? Do you happened to know which adaptation is needed to get it link back to footwell light? Thanks!!

@DJAlix would you or someone on here know if there are coding changes possible with VCDS for the Virtual Cockpit?

One item I notice is when you change the side panel away from the car information display, you loose mileage and the trip counter. Is there a way to keep this displayed on all tabs on the VC?

Thanks for the guidance!

Coding changes, yes 100% but not for what you are wanting. The core behaviours of the VC are embedded within its firmware. Hit the trip reset button once and it will pop back up from the bottom of the screen. It will not reset the data unless you push it again while its displaying.

Thanks Alix. I figured it would be a long shot. I will stick to the manual process. Cheers

Just got my Carista adapter. I enabled lock/unlock beep to my Audi A3 8V Limousine 2013, but it doesn't seem to work. I also enabled the configuration menu in MMI and checked "tone when lock/unlock". Still nothing when I lock my car using the key. Any help?

Hi all, anyone know if the cabriolet (2014) roof control module can be reset using VCDS? I have a rear window that doesn't always close when activating the roof open/close (have replaced the window motor/regulator already).

Theres a few posts somewhere from @DJAlix on here that alarms weren’t fitted as standard from Audi in some countries so if this doesn’t work means you don’t have a factory alarm that’s linked to all the system.
I’m sure djalix will come on and explain it better than me.
I could be talking cr@p though. every one I’ve did this on with vcds or obd11 it’s worked as expected but these are all UK cars from a3 to a7. My s3 makes a weedy squeal that’s pretty embarrassing so I’ve turned mine off.

Hi I’m just new to all this. Just purchased a Ross Tech HEX-V2 cable and have been mucking around with it. There are many useful forums I’ve visited but I still have found a good video for a starter like me.

Wouldn’t be great if one of the experienced members here to make a small video showing exactly how to change the codes so some Lyman like me could follow.

Eg. Just found out yesterday that you needed to put your foot on the break to make sure the changes in the VCDS went through. This may have sounded like a knob thing to do but if someone is not shown or told, it’s pointless.

Cheers
Daniel

Hi, i was wondering if it's possible to change the normale led indicators to dynamic with VCDS or ODIS?
I have an A3 sportback 2013 1.8 tfsi 7D

Not possible via coding only. Rears require a facelift LED cluster retrofit . Fronts require a Matrix headlights retrofit + body works.

ah oke thanks, but they can be semi dynamic with an adapter which costs like 60 euro?

The rears can have a module fitted that delays the outer bulbs lighting in order to create a semi dynamic effect yes. No idea on cost.

New 2019 RS3 owner here. Replaced a 2018 Golf R, and I’m having trouble making some of the same coding changes that I was able to make on that car. It appears that some are not possible? While others I may just be looking in the wrong spot. North American Model.

I’ll outline what I’m looking to do/having trouble with and if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!

1) Enable lock/unlock with engine running.
I’ve gotten this to work but only with the key. I REALLY want to be able to use kessy/the door handle to lock/unlock with engine on. I had it working on my 18 R but cannot for the life of me find the setting on this car for that. (Something to so with terminal 15 I’m assuming).

2) Window/sunroof open/close via key and handle.
This one I almost have. I can now open/close the windows and sunroof via the key, and close all via holding the lock sensor on the door handle. Just need to figure out how to open all via long holding rear of handle (assuming it can be done?).

3) Disable amber front side lights.
I’ve read this can’t be done as it is hardwired in now? I find it very odd they would have wired it permanently in when I could do a FL 2018 R via coding no issue... what do they gain by doing such a thing?
If it is indeed hardwired, has someone posted a pinout of the headlight harness connector to show which pin to remove to disable those?

4) Close MMI screen while driving.
I have also seen reports this is impossible via coding? Is that still the case, even with dealer level tools?

5) Disable rear secondary turn indicators. (So that only dynamic strip blinks for signalling).
Also impossible due to hardwiring? Is there a fix anyone has posted by removing pins/modifying wiring?

6) Finally, I’d LOVE to be able to increase the time limit for auto-resume in stop and go traffic. My car has the feature, and it works fine, but the 3 second limit is very annoying. 8 seconds or so would be perfect for heavier traffic jams. Not sure if this is at all possible?

Thanks in advance!
Ed

Hello Lads and Lasses,

Anyone have you Auto Close in the Menu on the MMI? I've done the following and it all work perfectly but no display in the MMI display>

Automatic Rain Closing

09 - Central Electronics
Security Access - 16
Code = 31347
(15) Access Control 2 - Regenschliessen_ein aus = Active (Rain Closing On / Off)
(16) Access Control 2 - Regenschliessen_art = Permanent (Rain Closing Type)
(28) Access Control 2 - Menuesteuerung Regenschliessen = Active (Driver Assist Rain Closing Menu)

09 - Central Electronics
Select Long Coding Helper
Select RLFS from Dropdown Menu
Change Long Code to 06A8DDs Dan

Testing:

1) Light Switch in Auto position.
2) Wiper stalk in 1st / Auto position.
3) All windows fully open.
4) Locked car and wait for 2 mins.
5) Spray water on windscreen sensor and bam... windows close

Cheers Dan

Hmmm, looks like my guide :)

Auto close menu only displays on VW and SEAT vehicles.

How did you program the keyfob to open and close all windows via the keyfob?

Hi fellas. Is there anyway to increase DRL brightness to full on low beam? Also is it applicable to increase reversing led brightness like PFL ones? I have FL 17' with Non-matrix LED lights and rear dynamic headlamps.

One addition, can I code a pulsing indicator on fronts like PFL led version? I tried the coding on this thread for my FL, but it doesn't work. Cheers.

Hey - NAR owner here too. What was the coding on the R to disable the side markers? I have a PFL S3 with the LEDs, but that’s one that annoys the life out of me and have yet to find. That and having no gear indicator in drive (D1, D2 etc.) in DIS like the RoW VAG cars. It’s got to be somewhere in module 17 but no idea where.

For item 5, I think I have the coding for that as I updated my US rears to the RoW FL rears with amber dynamics and set them to RoW coding. It’s one of the codes I changed in (I think) just the 2 outside rear clusters as blinking red and amber wouldn’t obviously work, but the same coding should apply to yours since you have the same clusters aside from red dynamic indicators vs amber RoW ones.
I think it’s (12)-Leuchte18BLK HLA60-Lichtfunktion E 18 from Blinken links Hellphase to Not Active and (12)-Leuchte19BLK HRC31-Lichtfunktion E 19 from Blinken rechts Hellphase to Not Active. I’ll check tomorrow but give those a try for now and let me know if it works and if not I’ll dig out the actual sheet and PM it to you.

Hello guys. I need your help.
Sorry if this has been asked already but I looked into this thread and I could not find this question so here it goes:
I want to activate the "bending light/dynamic cornering light" for my Audi A3 8V with AFS Xenon.
I am not talking about bottom fog light or the bulb inside the headlight but the xenon projector that moves with the steering and does the dancing when you turn on you car.
Does anyone knows how to activate this via VCDS?
Thanks guys

If this was fitted from factory, there is a menu option in the MMI. I can’t remember whether it is in exterior lighting or driver assist but it’s called Audi Adaptive Light.

Headlight switch needs to be in the Auto position.

Unless you are in the process of retrofitting “adaptive” lighting hardware you cannot just code this feature to work.

Oh c**p. So there has to be an adaptive lighting hardware? I mean on the list with options for my car there is "Audi Adaptive Lighthing" but no option in the MMI. Maybe the dealership scr***d me..

well yer, if you don't have the needed hardware its not gonna work.

And how I check if I have the hardware?
If you don't have the feature from the factory then you don't have the hardware as Audi don't give stuff like this away. If you really want to check then look for a part number on a lighting cluster and google it. If you bought the car based on advertised spec and the car is missing something then you need to have a chat with Audi or whoever you purchased it from.
