my A3 is having problem starting in the mornings, ok for a day, not for another

so I went to bristol Audi to book an appointment to get it checked, was told the excess for the courtesy

car is £2500, which I didn't really pay attention.

then I realised wait a mins, that sound a bit high , isn't it ?

guess on the day to drop my car ,will ask them if I can pay a few quid a day to bring the excess down.

it is not until 15th of Feb, hope my a3 can hang on till then :)

l had a audi tt as a courtesy car and they mentioned insurance for it. l called my insurance company and paid an extra 30 quid for 2 or 3 days, excess was the same as my S3. But the next time we had a courtesy car my wife dropped the 3 off and was given a A3 cab with no questions asked.

Jeeze, dont crash it!

I suspect there is a fee to lower this, i would hope so as the excess is almost as much as my car is worth, lol

had an A4 2.0TDI S-line yesterday (was awful in the snow...) while mine was in for a service, it's £1000 excess at Oxford Audi or £11.50 to put the excess down to £250

 id be a nervous wreck if i had that hanging over me its bad enough waiting to see how much they bill ya

Dont take a loan car with that excess. with Audi prices even a small ding in the door froma car park or a chipped wheel paint will cost you a small fortune.....believe me, been there done that. a wheel will cost you £6-700 and dont expect them to refurb it... only new will do.

Yeah thats Audis own insurance for you...Im gonna put my neck on the line here and say your under 25 arnt you? The excess i was charged was based on that im under 25.

I had exactly the same problem, my brand new A3 Black Edition was delivered with damage, i demanded a car of similar spec and size while the situation was being dealt with, I ended up with a A4 Allroad 3.0TDI V6 with a retail value of £43500! (Their technology demo car) and as you've stated a excess of £2500! I did exactly the same and just agreed and realized after id signed what the concequences could have meant... had the car 2 weeks and the experiance took 10 years of my life expectancy! To say i drove carefully was an understatment!

Id always insure myself from now.

When I had a courtesy car last, when my A3 went in for repair, there was either a big excess - £1000 IIRC (not an age thing as I'm over 30) but standard for them. They offered a waiver for something like £15 - not per day, but for the duration of the use of the car. I was feeling tight so didn't pay the £15, but if I had realised they'd have my A3 for 2 weeks, it might've seemed good value for money...

I had a Mercedes CLK 280 for 5 days while mine was in for repair a couple of weeks ago...The excess was high but chose to pay £7 per day instead as I knew mine wasn't going to be long in the garage. Only got charged for 4 days £28...That's when we had all that snow so i didn't drive it much.. SCARY...!!
I must say I don't think i'll ever buy another vehicle that's not 4WD...!!!!

Thing is Gary we might not get snow again for a few years ! Its a bit like people that buy convertables in case they get a week in the year when the sun comes out

your right mate....But i remember when I had a BMW 520...horrible in the wet...Think I'll stick with all 4 wheels driving:)

hi thanks guys, :) I was busy preparing for the exams. will definitely ask again to see if I can pay a few quid to lower the excess. got asked about my age, and I am just over 25. that the reason I feel the excess is so high.

sometimes be careful is just not enough. this A3 is my first " proper " car. had only 2 months, got 2 and half scratchs already. once by a lorry, second time some low life using keys to scratch from from door to rear in a supermarket car park. I parked perfectly , and A3 is such an understated car. the third time, some guy kicked my car on the door in the night, luckly only got fine scratchs :notme:. again perfectly parked, standard low spec A3 with no mod, and a silver one! no way it stands out. totally puzzled , can not understand how these people's brains function.

but then again, last time saw 2 blokes, drove pass the lambo parked under my flat, reversed back, got out of their crappy car, sit their fat *** on the lambo bonnet, took out their phone , took a pic of themselves with the lambo, and then drove off.
