i know this is a bit wrong. but would it be possible to pass this one to something else to make in bulk than you sell them yourself? id be happy to help setup an online shop or something for them. dunno if thats being cheeky :p i just dont see why they should get all the credit for your hard work not to mention the moneyz

Thanks for the offer mate, but no. I made an agreement with them that I would do this and send it back to them.

Ultimately, I'm not doing it for me, I'm doing it so that these downpipes become the good value for money they should be for everyone else.

Top stuff matey if they sort it out i'll have one off them as well. How do you connect it up to a standard exhaust. Also having trouble finding a exhaust manifold for the S3. BAM engine anyone got any ideas?

my xs downpipe makes a really raspy noise which is really annoying. i even took it off to wrap it in heat wrap to try and quieten it down, new gasket but still the same. sooo noisy!!!

How old is it? Most are like this until they coke(?) up a bit

My Blueflame one is mate, I think its just the downsides of increasing the size of the down pipe

fair enough dude. I guess ppl that already know the xs power name n shop etc will still be buying them and it will take time to get the word out.

top work anyway mate :icon_thumright:

I should be getting my paws on a Pipewerx downpipe today for comparison purposes - I'll take photos.

I also received the 3" universal exhaust gasket off of eBay last night. Fits like a glove, really impressed! Spot on :)

OK - so who wants to see the difference between the Pipewerx downpipe and the XS Power downpipe then?

OK then..... Not a great deal at all.

As you can see the decat pipe is marginally longer - and thats about it really....

Oh, the Pipewerx one is on the left.....

A few people have said that to be fair. Still, it is well made and fitted perfectly first go - so not all bad. Just a little disappointed with the overall look.

Aslong it does the job and well made

Sweet, that would be good if you would.

The Milteks are by far the most widely used S3 exhaust setup around to be fair. I have contemplated having mine off and a custom one fitted.... but stuff keeps breaking and robbing my funds.... :(

Here is mine, I replaced the 120 cell sport cat last week, and what a difference. no restrictions at all 3" all the way with no reducers. it was made in front of me, took the guy 2 hours.

whats the crack with the decats, isnt that an MOT fail? and what if VOSA do one of their checks on it? just curious what the outcome would be as there seems to be loads of people running them

Nice job that's been done as well, bet you're well happy with that

I am very interested to see what mine goes like when completed....

VOSA would give you a botty spanking and you'd have to get it sorted and then checked at a VOSA station - much like with window tints. I've had that happen to me in the past.

MOT fail also, yes. I plan to but a cat and just swap the sports cat and decat at MOT time. Either that or find some other method of weaselling out of doing that and leaving the decat on. *cough*

thought that might be the case mate, was hoping there was sumat i was missing...... you know my thinking on the subject...... cost vs benefit etc ;)

I reserve judgement on a cost benefit analysis until I've driven the car.... lol

Oh yes, I am loving it, sounds very nice as well, someone here said the milltek is 2.75" well it is not, its 2.95" as you could tell from the photo. let us know what yours going to turn out like. I have kept the 120 cell for MOT times :)

Exactly why I plan to buy one. For the £~200 it will cost, it's an easy workaround, and also works in case you get nicked for it....

Loving your work! lol

That downpipe from america is XS power stuff lol.

if it is of any interest, XS Power next to blue flame down pipe... Sorry no pics of the cats

This was after editing the flange on the Xs power part

OK. Downpipe fitted for testing purposes.... Interesting.

Took it out, and immediately there was a noticeable gain in performance. Liquid showing gains of ~20 bhp (before: 262 after: 283) and similar amounts of torque gain.

However, I then discovered that there was an issue with the car. As soon as I took it out, revs dropped right down when rolling in neutral, and would then come back and stabilise. Very strange. Anyway - this got progressively worse. Turns out that the stub for the DV off of the TIP had torn clean away. I 'fabricated' it back on, but wasn't the best....

Saturday morning, I took the car up to Bill's to the dyno and had a run. Car wasn't producing any more power than before - around the 260 mark - however torque was up by about 20 lb/ft. At this point, the car was visibly hunting like crazy on idle, and short term fuel trims indicated an air leak. Also, the air flow readings, and the BHP output didn't really match up - I have put this down to the air leak in the TIP pulling in unmetered air.

Bill lent me another TIP for testing, and I fitted that - now all fine again. No hunting. Also - this TIP is stronger than the one I had on, and the noise of it cavitating has now gone.

I have done some liquid runs since fitting the new TIP, and am now getting air flow readings of up to 229 g/s. Liquid confirms 287 BHP and 280 lb/ft of torque.

I am hoping to get back on the dyno as soon as I can to see what's what.

To be honest, I am happy enough with the improvement in drive ability - it drives so much better.

Here are some shots of Liquid at it's best....

I have been in conversation with Jason @ XS Power, and they are very keen to get the downpipe back for analysis.

They plan to use the modded downpipe as a jig as suspected and change the flange on all new pipes.

I will be sending this back today, and will post up any developments as they happen in the future.

Will be good to know that future XS Power pipes will just fit with no hassle!

Also, I will add up some pics of the liquid's BHP and Torque runs in graph mode rather than gauge - it shows delivery and is more useful.

Proof a S3 with stage 2 mods can run 280 bhp. Your car isnt mapped accordingly yet is it to compensate for your exhaust gas air flow increase from your exhaust system.

Milltek has just made a 3 inch downpipe and sports cat for a LCR member and he got 10 bhp and nearly 40 lbs increase straight away, even before mapping.

Welly you got any videos of your new setup.

Not quite dyno proven tho, as liqui, good as it is, is determining power from indirect means, be that airflow and or torque monitor
its not equating to dyno, proven to read std power from std cars

it deffo gained significant torque tho from before.. which was nice to see
