hmm this is going to be awesome i cant wait defo top 3 if not fastest!!!

cant remember what track its on but the new gtr was something like 2 sec quicker round it.

just looked and it was round the ring.

Gumbert is race legal car, no possibility that Veyron would be faster...

The TG test track does have long straights, but even so, I agree, the Veyron is just too heavy and doesn't have real down force.

I reckon it'll do it in a touch under 1:18.

respectable time. its not a track focused car.

I knew it would be faster than the Zonda in a straight line but didn't realise by how much!!! :)

What makes the Veyron so special is that its is bonkers fast, has crazy headline numbers, but is a completely useable continent muncher with all the creature comforts you could want.
AND, isnt too shabby round a track neither.

Ill have mine in black please.:)

Rather boring to me tbh, looks like a hedgehog with wheels, lol, wasnt impressed by the top gear run either, give me a db9 anyday

The car itself as a piece of engining is awesome! A bit on the heavy side but still..1000bhp which is meant to be reliable...

But it lacks looks IMO. Too smooth and none of those supercar line!

Would love to hire one but its around £2500 for a weekend or something daft like that!

Uh think your sums are a miss, 1mil veyron, minus 50k for a db9, thats what my mate traded his in for = 950k or near enough, so I'll wait for further house price crashes then when lowest buy about 5-10 flats, rent them & wait for market to rise again, then sell, next???

Lets be honest Paul, if we were in the position to be looking for a Veyron, making small change on flats would be pretty low on the pecking order of 'things to do today'....neither would depreciation as your current account balance would be making more than that in interest, to offset things.

People who buy Veyrons won't concern themselves with such vulgar things as an economic downturn.

Nor, I suspect would they consider a £50k Aston...unless it was to use as a garden shed at one of their country houses!

Indeed.
Hence my very `tonque in cheek` comment about the slack 700K (or more it would seem).

And sadly, none of this affects me.
I can only wish to have this as a future dilemna.

Ho hum, another day in Joe Shmoe`s shoes.:)

Cheers

Well you got one all the same :)
Wishful thinking more like for most of us tbh, but just goes to show how it is, he bought less than 2 years before for 90k, lost 40-50k in that time, maybe one day I'll have enough pennies to afford one(for the weekend)

Garden shed anyday then, preferrebly not in green

Know that feeling

he bought less than 2 years before for 90k, lost 40-50k in that time,

Wow, thats a big hit.
Mate of mine bought one 18-24 months ago.
IIRC he paid 100K for it, brand new. Was recently taking about getting rid as it doesnt get used.
Wonder if he knows how much its worth now?
He traded his 996 C4S (which did get used) for it and already got thumped on that too.

The DB9 is a fine car no doubt, but I would have kept the C4S, especially as its was a 2nd car anyway, and very special with the turbo kit and all the toys (including one off GT Silver)

Part of the problem is that he recently bought an A6 30Tdi LeMans as a daily driver and loves it. An Aston it aint, but because he enjoys the A6 he doesnt feel compelled to hassle himself to get the Aston out. (must be mad!)

Again, not a problem I have at the minute.:(....and Im off topic again.

Cheers

Why thank you kind Sir.
I can only repay you by reciprocating the gesture.

At current nominal exchange rates a NEW Veyron will set some lucky git back around 920K (ish).

A NEW DB9 with set another lucky git back around 100K.

Sooo, in theory you ONLY have 820K (ish) to build a property empire, so dont be ringing Sarah Beeny just yet.

820K and an Aston will do just nicely though......:)

(In fact I will be happy if Santa brings me retro RNSE and 2 new tyres.)

agree. not all that much wow factor apart from the speed. and when you drive a car like mine, any super car wil feel like a rocket compared

i'd take a DBS any day. or i would take the veyron and sell it to buy a few DBS' :D

Pah!
A mere 12 cylinders and no forced induction would never do.....:)

Thats funny cause my mate sold his porsche to get his DB9, lol, god man the porsche was lucifer itself, at had been uprated to something stupid like 600bhp+, it was ****** quick but talk about riding your **** to the tarmac, still got a numb feeling in my backside from that ride(from the car before any smart **** comments, lol), but it was damn quick, but no comparison with the aston, just sex on wheels no matter if its cheaper or slower than a veyron, for me its ultimate car at moment, even in 10 years I'd buy one & I damn well will aswell, lol, should of lowered in price by then, lol.

But I have to say I've been looking at that A6 le mans for a while, they are actually ****** nice cars overall & the spec is massive, so its a consideration for sure as I want an estate car or suv style for work & family from next year, was maybe thinking an s3 sportback but not sure boot is ok for this with family etc & my tools, we'll see how economics falls when I'm in italy cause not a good outlook for 09 huh.

Thing is he sold the aston to buy a bentley GT, urrrgggh, why I dont know, but his reason was so he could goto the diy store & fit stuff in the boot, I was like you'd buy diy **** & stick it in the boot of the bentley, lmao really did, more money than sense really, but he lost a **** load of equity to his ex GF, couldnt keep his pants on & all the money he made in the last few years he gave her as a settlement, so life of riley isnt always as sweet as it sounds huh, but I'd have his old DB9 anyday

Must agree, all recent Astons have been stunners, certainly cars you buy with your heart.
The Porsche you would buy with your head. Although I never get excited when I see one, I can imagine owning one at some point, (especialy having been lucky enough to try out a C2 and C4S.)

A Veyron you would buy when there are no more spare Caribean islands left! (and the divorce/equity settlement has been finalised)

Cheers
Paul

lmao, lol,

Only porsche I like tbh is the cayman, nothing else jumps out.

cant believe anyone thinks a 16 cylinder quad turbo producing approx. 1000bhp is boring. i'd imagine when you are in it that its far from boring!!!

Well you obviously buy a car purely on the size of the engine, so a ford cortina with a v12 will do for you will it, lol, I dont buy a car just cause its got the biggest thing under the bonnet known to man, its the whole car not one thing, style, look, engine, economy, technology, many things, to me that car was boring on the top gear run

`Boring` in the same way that getting nasty with 15 Playboy Playmates in a bath full of baby oil is `Boring`?

A client of mine recently put a DB9 back, because every panel was a different shade/thickness of paint.
There are 'certain people' on this forum helped him with a very detailed paint report.
He has an R8 now.
Or at least, he does this week.

Tbh I wouldnt wanna go near after heff had been there urrggghhhh, lol

& 15, I think for that many viagra would be on tap, lol, lol

The Porsche you would buy with your head.

I think you difference between the two is down to how much of a driver you are...
The better 'drivers' car is the Porsche.
The better looking 'posers' car is the Aston.

Although I never get excited when I see one, I can imagine owning one at some point, (especialy having been lucky enough to try out a C2 and C4S.)

I'm quite sad...I do get excited when I hear a flat 6!

Possibly because I know I can afford to run one...whereas I couldn't an Aston.
A mate of mine has a V8 Vantage...and his service costs are almost 4 times what mine are. Tyre wear and brake wear similar...fuel economy similar. But mine is faster...obviously! :icon_thumright:

Great cars as 911s are, they are common compared to the other more exotic brands...but they can be run every day...unlike some of the more exotic brands!

As a point of reference, my C4S costs the same to run and maintain as my S3 did. Try those maths on an Aston!

Anyway, back on topic, I admire the Veyron...but don't drool over it.
I too would use it for a while if I was given one...then flog it and go shopping.
Not for property though...
for a Carrera GT, F40, GT3 RS, 2.7 RS, GTR...and a Scirroco for the shopping run. Job done. Next?
