What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

That's the beauty with detailing (or so I've found) whatever you do, a bit of hard work and you reap the rewards

That is true, but also, decent products! I spent so many years using cr*p stuff. When you have decent products it makes SO much difference to end result

No worries! Odd request but if you live near Cambridgeshire or on the way south, I'm heading down to see DJAlix tomorrow and could drop you off mine to try if you wanted? It's for a karcher K series

Bummer! I was in Chelmsford for college on Wednesday haha! Not back again for another couple weeks!
Well hopefully you get some success but as @q5man says problem best to try and find one by a named company, autobrite, autofinesse, chemical guys etc

Cheers buddy - now just need dear daughter to return my jet wash (and she lives just round the corner to the Anglia Ruskin lol)

Ermm, yes, why are they no good? Got it while on hols in France couple of weeks back.......

I was going to say the same, I used the Nilfisk one which came with my pressure washer, it's utter ****. Just spurts out a white liquid with the same consistency as water. Invest the £20~ it costs in a decent snow foam lance, you'll wonder how you managed without it.

I've probably seen your S3 around, I go to Anglia Ruskin uni, I love car spotting around Chelmsford, absolutely bustling compared to out in the sticks.

Cheaper on amazon Col, but then there appear to be two types:

These MF cloths are great. @Bristle Hound put me onto these a few years back, and they’re amazing especially for the money. Great addition to anyone’s collection.

I didn't! I meant it was an Audi managers car before I bought it! So had 6 months of their "expert car washes"

Thanks mate. I was surprised how easy it is. That Flex XFE-15 is a top top machine, so smooth. @jassyo06

Slowly so the rest of the car over the coming weeks.

Yes, very pleased, it is popping

I am actually looking forward to the end results and your review on Pure. I am planning on correcting the A3 in June and the plan was to use Moonlight but might chnage the plans depending on your review. The only issue is I don't have a garage to let it cure overnight and/or for 24 hours but that I might be able to sort out. We'll see after your review.

I can relate to this mate . Bought a kit today for the stone chips and thinking that Ceramic coating is on the cards but same as you , no access to a garage . Can't trust the local youths to put s gazebo over the A3 either ........ Frustrating

To be honest mate, garage not needed, but obv. Preferable if you have access to one. Only reason I have taken advantage of this, is mainly down to being a busy weekend, and I didn’t want to rush, or have extra work, so wash and correct late pm yesterday, and coating this morning. As long as you have an hour of dry weather (they even give you Cure to protect the coating) it will be fine.

“Gyeon Q² Pure Quartz Protection produces a thick, hard and extremely hydrophobic coating. Gyeon Q2 Pure brings the appearance of the paintwork to a new level, delivering pure candy gloss. Its thick formulation requires only one layer, making the application process quick and user-friendly.”

Also, I think the gradual coating of the whole car (following sectional correction) is the way to go for ease, and if you don’t have access to a garage

Reactions: V6_Man
Ok, so Gyeon Q2 Pure ceramic coating done on wings and bonnet. Took me about an hour I would say, maybe a bit less, but I took my time and did small areas at a time. Following some googling I found a method to apply this (as it is single coat, it is thicker than many others), so didn’t use method the instructions suggest of cross hatching the whole applicator with product and then applying.

I put one decent amount on one side, and applied in linear (either up/down or left/right) action. Then leave for 20-30 secs and then without adding more product apply small concentric circles over the same area to ensure coverage and level coat. I then wiped off with plush M/F. I used three in total that will be binned. - Was going to use el cheapo red ones, but the searches suggested plush was better. Found it really easy to remove. Now, some pics.....

Applied product to one side in a blob:

RHS wing done:

Placed cloth on windscreen to track where next:

Start of bonnet:

Almost there:

LHS Wing done:

Finished, so final shots (in garage so will be way better when outside):

Still more than 3/4 left roughly:

Massive thanks to @jassyo06 for all his help, suggestions, and recommendations including Gyeon Q2 Pure.

I am confident I could have done this outside, as long as you have a half decent day.

Just to add, once cured I will add Gyeon Cure (supplied) as a final sealant and protector and use for maintenance, but I will leave until tomorrow as I have the luxury of having in garage overnight. If I was doing this outside I would be applying Cure straight after. Similar to what my mobile detailer did when he last coated the car.

Hope this helps some of you, questions and comments welcome.

I will of course feedback on how this performs with obligatory future beading and reflection shots

Honestly mate that looks immense. No other words for it! The reflection shots (albeit inside) really show off the shine you've been able to achieve!
I thoroughly look forward to future updates as the rest of the car gets the same treatment!

Did you watch any videos on machine polishing tips by chance? As am looking to get some idea before delving headfirst into it.

Thanks @Adam14. The pictures don’t do the shine and mirror effect justice to be honest.

Yes I did watch a couple vids on forensic detailing channel, but lots of advice from @jassyo06, and a quality flex xfe-15 DA, with the pads and polish made this a really easy thing to do, no jokes. All i will say is give it a go
