Hello People from the master race.

So here's my story, I have been involved with Audi's since I can remember,
I come from a family of audi owners. I have done some mechanical engineering at collage and know my way around most cars,

I'm 21 now and next January I will have a years no claims bonus,
So my insurance drops massively, I have got myself a good job so now I have some savings behind me of around 10k I'm looking to buy my first audi.

Most of my friends say the A3 is a great car witch it is.
But the shape and look of the A4 B8's call to my being, I have scowerd the Internet for a4's typically a tdi.
I started looking at 2.0 ltrs ,SE ,sline range and there around 8 grand, but I keep getting told that the v6 tdi from the 3.0 ltr is a way better choise and not bad on the fuel ( obviously ragging it would cost my pocket )

So to end a story short, I'm getting a A4 next year and it needs to have

Leather Seats, Fast, Lowest insurance I know there going to kill me for it at about 200pm or 2300 a year but im paying 1700 at the moment, and not going to kill my budget at 10k for the car.

Thanks for listening to me blathering and Thanks in advance

3.0 tdi will cost you more in insurance and tax but it is so worth it in my opinion. I had a 2.0 tdi before and the 3.0 is just on another level. All 3.0 tdi's are Quattro which has its obvious benefits and I find the fuel consumption very good indeed, even to the point where it uses less fuel than my friends car which is a 1.0 ecoboost focus!!!

Thanks for the quick reply Kane,

The 3.0 is an amazing engine i know :D. the insurance is 170 -220 a month and a years 2500

but what model should i get is the sline se etc worth it or am i better off getting a 3.0 tdi standard and buying the seats and finishings myself ?

That's a tough question. I would always say the S-line but I personally bought an SE because it had a lot of factory extras that I just couldn't turn away and a manual gearbox with low miles (ADS, dynamic steering, interior and exterior lighting pack, mmi high with nav, dab and ami, fully electric and heated leather seats etc).
I miss out on the xenon headlights and led running lights which I would have liked but the extras swayed it.
I would say that if you're looking at 2 vehicles, neither with any optional extras, one SE the other S-line, go for the S-line.
I find that Audi make it expensive and difficult/specialised to upgrade a lot of components, with component protection etc so if you can find a car with the bits you want then bonus but everything can be retrofitted if you have enough money!

Get one with xnons as retrofitting them is a huge effort

Well i already have my heart set on these lights, Imagen it on a all black a4 b8 tinted windows and rear lights ahhhhh :blackrs4::hearteyes:

Aren't they just modded factory xenons?

Looks like they have been split, painted, and re assembled.

If you're in no rush. Go out and try them for your self. Then you know what you're looking for. We can all advise you, but it's all based on what WE want.
I like a nippy car, but I have a 136ps TDIE, which isn't going to set the world alight. I also have a FR Leon to cheer me up (again I know, nothing special)
Have you done insurance quotes? My old 2.5 TDI Quattro was by far the cheapest I've ever insured at £180 a year. I'm paying £289 with my Leon.

I have done quotes with my years no claims that I will have in Jan,
added my dad to the additional drivers and I get 3.0ltr SE around 2300 a year or 170 a month fully comp and I can get 140 pm on 3rd party fire and theft.

Just texted a close mate who has a 3.0, He said i can try it if i insure it for a day.

I didn't read it, too busy gawking at them.

Right, this is what I would do, buy nothing for the car until you get one! What did I do while waiting to pick-up my secondhand S4?:- well I successfully won bidding for a full sized spare wheel to replace the space saver, seemed like a good plan - no! The battery lives in the boot under the space saver, ah well, now that I have replace all four tyres, I now have a usable tyre on that spare wheel that gets stored under the winter wheels in my garage!

Are you sure that it is possible and legal to insure a car that is already covered by another insurer or policy? I'd reckon that if he put you on his insurance for a day or so that would be different. Any car insurance policies that I've read through clearly state that "you" are confirming that no other insurer is covering the car listed in this policy.

Not planning on buying anything yet. I could buy the car in a few months or whenever a good deal comes along, Ill Have space for it on my driveway, just enthusiastic that's all.

Oh I don't know how he's going to do it just said come over Saturday and we will sort a days insurance..

Headlights look good but I'm not a fan of splitting and resealing em. Look great short term but be prepared for fogging and failing too

Are they filled with a inert gas of some sort to prevent misting?

Dunno the ins and outs but Imy just not a fan of messing around with that sorta stuff especially with expensive to replace xenon units. Just smacks of asking for trouble. Sure many will disagree and this is all just my opinion so take it with a pinch of salt mate.

You can easily get a days insurance, it from short term insurers that charge uber prices for a day....but its mainly for people that want to borrow someone'e car for a day or two or for people that have just bought a car privately and need to get it home before getting a proper insurance sorted out.

If you smash it, you pay for it all not just a little excess, which is likely to be a fair old chunk of cash for genuine audi parts and a decent repair job.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have only been driving 8 months and only had fully comp...
