Uprated s3 internals

What is needed for uprated internals ? Pistons ? Rods? And what else ?

Yeah, unless you want to put a spacer plate in to lower the compression but i don't know what you're planning :)
 
Just looking ahead, just so many goodies on the bar-tek website !! Got a friend that has a focus st running 460HP so can't be getting destroyed by that lol

If you can bear it,have a scan through my build thread.

You would need rods,pistons,uprated bearing shells and check the crank for a bottom end build and then for the top,the best is the Ferrea valve train plus springs and guides.

You now have a good choice of parts from people like IE and PEC who supplied most of my parts.

Most recommend using standard CR pistons although saying that I went for a 9.2:1 set from Wossner with the eventual power and boost in mind.
A WMI kit makes that less necessary.

Gearbox was rebuilt a couple of years ago.

It had always been a bit noisy from new,but coming from a straight cut box on my Escort I didn't think much of it until it really got bad.
When it was stripped down there were a lot of brass filings,and the selector forks and synchros on 1st through 3rd were worn.

As a bonus,the transfer box was basically toast.

So....it was rebuilt with uprated bearings and forks,and the transfer case was replaced,and since then(fingers crossed),it's been absolutely fine.

Just noticed bar-tek sell an uprated box , any idea what torque standard starts to give up or does it depend how u treat it ?

If you look at the spec list,it's not far different from what's been done to mine.
Uprated bearings,synchros and selectors.
Admittedly they also uprate the input shaft and few other bits,but I can safely say that mine is dealing with 540lbs.

The dog box kit they offer looks very similar(if you know what I mean) to the SQS parts.

No idea mate well over my head just seemed like a decent price for the hole box when mine gives up

WHat is the dog box ?
 
Isn't dsg conversion massively expensive ?

About the same as a dog box conversion but with the advantage of being a lot more user friendly.

Think that's a long way off for me , think the uprated box would do me if it eventually goes
