Hi all,

I'm accumulating a list of parts and consumables I think I'll require to replace my engine in a week or two.

I'm almost sure they'll be something I've forgotten or that I don't know about that I'll need to swap my engines over.

I've got the bare engine so I will be removing all hardware, inlets, manifolds, turbo etc so I'm looking to know if I will need any socialist tools or if you have any tips for when I come to do this.

List so far,

Common tools, spanners socket set etc.
Fluids. Coolant, oil, pas etc.
Gasket for exhaust manifold
Degreaser. Wd40. Loctite. Copper slip.
Do I need new flywheel bolts ?. Are they stretch ones?.
Other than that from my head most things seem reusable.?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Cheers.!

Plan is to fit forged engine then after some miles on the clock up the go with a larger turbo etc.

Gasket for inlet manifold too. New flywheel bolt yes. New pulley bolts if not already on? Cambelt etc? Engine mount bolts.. quite a few things even likes of radiator hose i replaced o rings were it connects to rad.

Cheers for your reply mate,
Doesn't appear many have done this lol.

I've got new intake on current engine only done 100 miles so will switch that across.

I'll pick up bolts and stuff today then.

Any tools required that aren't the usual?

Cheers for the heads up guys,

That's why I post on here in the hope things don't fall through the net!.

Pooo only fitted it last night lol.
I'll double check what make it is !

How can they state it's 300% stronger and better at holding off heat if it's not?.

:-(

A ribe tool is needed for the head bolts.
12 points for flywheel bolts
A ******* long Allen key for the transfer box
Alignment tool for the clutch

its stronger at the expense of longevity. A race car doesn't drive the miles a road car does. It has more strength in it right up until it snaps because it is brittle

who the **** knows..
reality in real world is they seem to fail and they wont pay for your damage when it does..

not a risk I would take

But are we suggesting they fail less than oem belts ?.

If not one of these belts snapped I would be impressed but you'd expect some failures.

Is the point they seem to fail more than oem ?.

I would assume even though they fail they're better than oem but perhaps not from what's been said.

I just need to know if I should buy a new oem kit from tps to fit today or not lol. :)

Cheers

I think from reading previous posts it would appear the advice was to bin it and buy an oem kit

You can get the long Allen key on eBay for about a fiver IIRC.
I've only used mine twice - once to loosen, once to tighten......
