It's very nice isn't it,and great to see Audi making things like this.

On the other hand,I could almost feel a smug moment coming on....LOL

Haha have you ever tested your 0-62 time ?

To be honest,no

I don't do drag runs(!) and usually am a bit more focussed on the next obstruction up the road.
I know it's fairly quick though. Lol

If it comes into production its not gona be cheap though id imagine! More or less than a rs4?

I don't think it would be a production model in that state of tune and even with stock RS3 power it would have to be at least the same price as an RS3.

If I spent all that money to get your sort of power I'd be doing all sorts of runs haha drag , track, the lot..I'd want to see what it's capable of in every way possible..

I just don't want to explore the limits of the transmission!

Once it's rolling though it's properly fast compared to most things.

In the land of big power conversions the gearbox holds most of the cards these days. Seems to be the limiting factor more often than not.

Agreed.

Finding really tough replacements is VERY difficult and expensive.

A dog box for the S3 is around £4k

DSG upgrades are around the same.

Yes, well at times he has to nurse it in to 3rd n 5th gear..but he's 23 and I think at that age you tend to rag your car a lot more so things break ha

Wow, makes you realise why the concepts are rarely realised. Capable of limited miles before they become museum piece/design studies.

I managed to chew a few teeth off my Escorts cogs with a straight cut rally box and that was an expensive lesson.

The S3s box rebuild was a bit less.

Such a pity though.

The ideas and concepts are great.

Escos?

Yes my pal was looking at something stronger and to go up a stage but will probably just rebuild the box and move on to an RS6 I reckon now ..

An ex GpN Tarmac and gravel rally car.

Very long spec list inc ALS and a lot of other bits.

Hey now. Come on. Come on. To the official, non redundant thread made later than this one.

Sorry.

I was asked and replied and digressed.

I just wish more concepts made it to the road.

Yeah me too. Especially as they go through the hard part of designing and building them. The next step is the easy part.... selling them :)

Now that sounds like a proper bit of fun

Did you take it on the gravel yourself ?

Only the Queen's highways.

It was the fastest thing I've ever driven point to point, and demanded serious concentration all of the time.

Now that's my kind of car keeping you on the edge of your seat at all times

I think that the A1 Quattro concept, and quite a few of Audi's other concept cars could have done that, and it's a pity that the idea often gets watered down to fit into the range of cars on sale.

Wouldn't it be great if they turned out something truly bonkers.

The Escort however was utterly bonkers as a road car,and as the man who sold it me(who had raced BTCC Sierras, rallycross RS200s,and Historic Gp C cars) said...."it will either kill you or cure you".

Now Audi has that engineer who worked on the Mercedes A45 AMG engine, they are bringing out to some amazing concepts.

Yeah the A1 is nice but I personally can't have a car that small..

Your old escort sounds manic !!

I love all the old fords..

If you know of anyone with a mk1 or mk2 rs2000 for sale please let me know , needs to be in good condition , not show condition as the car will be used and not just sat there like a pointless trophy .

Someone who's not afraid to go for a lot of power from a small engine.

The current trend is definitely towards small capacity turbo engines tuned for power.

It used to be pretty difficult to get 250bhp/litre from an engine, and make it last, but those days seem to be gone, and whilst it's not neccessarily cheap,it's straightforward enough to get that and more,as well as having everyday reliability.

Im also looking forward to seeing the civic type r now its got a turbo strapped to it hopefully its engine will have some potential to tune

I saw the show car pictures for that on another thread.

Not subtle or restrained in any way.
