hi guys im thinking of lowering my a3.its the 1.8t 2001.ive had a price for 30mm lowering springs.whould this make a noticable diffrence of is 30mm just enough?
advice more than welcome peeps!!

Erm, hard to tell really.

Mines dropped 40mm and it doesnt look low until you see a standard A3 next to it when its running on 16" wheels. When it was on 18" wheels it looked about right for me, meaning the wheels were nicely in the arches :)

I wouldn't bother with 30mm to be honest, not enough of a difference to notice it at all.

I reckon a nice compromise for a road car is the weitec ultra GT shock and spring kit.

My old car had a 50mm weitec kit, and it was perfect. not really that low at all, but just nice

that's what I'm worried about if I pay to drop it 30mm and it's not low enough to look diffrent!it is hard to say really.I carnt seem to find a picture of an a3 the same as mine lowered!think I'll take a gamble then and go for the 45mm springs

Wietec Ultra GT kit here too, very nice.

On stock turbo wheels..

Ive been offeres a set of oem (allegedly) golf gt tdi 42 mm lowering springs virtually new hardly any any miles. Can i just use these springs or will i have to change more parts ie drop links or adjust anything like camber as i really cant afford anymore cash this time of the year. Any help greatly appreciated. Lewis :)

I'd recommend a set of cheap JOM/Jamex/VMaxx coilovers for £165 from DPM. Fit them yourself and get the ride height as you want it.

And they come with a two year guarantee! Bob's your uncle...

Ive been offered a set of nearly new springs for £40 though so thats pretty much all i can afford right now. Maybe could stretch to a set of drop links etc

i wouldnt recommend using new springs on 10 year old shocks... it could be dangerous and your shocks will only die faster.

Just me but if I could only afford £40 on springs I'd try and save a few more squid before doing any work.

54,000 on a W reg and about 45-50mm after reading this thread want the wheels to sit flush to the arches
