What does Vorsprung get you as extras.
Is it worth ~£10k more?
It's about £5k on the s-line - All the extra spec is on the configurator now

Totally agree with both your comments, but this seems to be in line with the direct competitors unfortunately. Also consider that we will get a rise in taxation within the next 12-18 months to pay for what is currently going on....put a few extra grand onto that price
I don't think a car forum is the place, and I don't like to get political. However whether the 80% was paid or not, you'd have more people unemployed claiming various benefits anyway, so the cost was inevitable.Personally, I think next year will see an unprecedented change in our tax system at the next budget. Essentially, the UK has now become how Corbyn envisaged. Police state controling people's movement. The Government paying everyone's wages, thus controlling what everyone earns.
But all these bailouts, grants etc all need paying back. The Government will ensure it's all paid back, and then some. I fully expect all NI contributions to rise by 1p. Income tax to rise by 1-2p. VAT to rise to to say 25%. Car tax will rise. And every other tax we pay will all slightly rise.
What one hand giveth, the other hand taketh away.
Again, the issue of tax and everyone thinking the UK is an expensive place to live really is an irrelevant argument and so Little Britain. Apologies if this offends anyone but I have lived all over the world and the UK is by far the best place to live in terms of fairness and equality relating to NHS and tax. Other areas it does lack, but if anyone starts saying that current car tax prices or tax increases after a major crisis are unfair then you just need to use Google and see other countries systems in the best of times. As I said, no offence intended, we just need a little bit of an eye opener to situations I think.
But this ain't the place to be guessing what's going to happen or not......going happen....just like it's not the place to discuss covid ......people come on here to get a breather from such things..called escapism...as you know
The daft old chap just missed a digit when typing with his thumbs lol. That much was obvious as soon as the post was read. Yes he always has an opinion, and no I don’t always agree with him (he wouldn’t respect anyone who did, lol) but he’s always good value, and every forum needs a @jassyo06 to keep things lively and interesting. Let’s keep it fun and not pounce on little typing errors, eh.
I’m very keen to see what the new S3 looks like ‘in the metal’ (the only way to truly judge the aesthetics of a new car - hence holding aff on an opinion until now) - I’m liking the new sloping roofline of the Sportback, the continued offering of roof-rails - mock me if you want but this is a USP of the S3 - makes it a properly sensible family wagon in a a package that it still ‘exciting’ so you don’t have to join the rest of the boring SUV sheep flock (no offence @X3man - yours is actually one of the very few I do doff my cap to when I see one ‘in the wild’), and the lines leading up to the rear wheel arches actually makes them look a wee bit flared. Which is not a bad thing.
Compared to a lot of the pretty bland offerings in the same price bracket, especially if the S3 does push out an impressive improvement of 330-ish horses (which will set the new benchmark - I don’t for a second believe that the new model S3 will have the same power output as the outgoing model, as some ‘reviews’ have claimed’) and when the few but subtle and tidy styling ‘tweaks’ are factored in, it’ll be one I’ll be very interested in. The base level factory spec A3 will never look interesting - so lookin’ forward to seeing what the more interesting S3 and RS3 models are actually gonna look like in the flesh.
Yup, agree with this. Give and take. Keep givin’ the give when it comes to opinions and take a few back in good spirits and let’s all endure the cabin fever together and use the forum as our ‘release’. I love my family. Dearly. But *** we were never supposed to spend this much time together! I got so bored and fed up of ‘em all today I took myself away with the dog and drew a cartoon of my him (It was raining, so I couldn’t detail the car, and even if I could have, it hasn’t been driven since I last washed it ).

The options seem to have resorted back to Pfl times barring the standard 10" mmi screen it's a very very expensive car when you start to tick boxes....nets at the back of seats £170 bangers.....that's ****** ridiculous, also l cant phantom out the Edition 1 model....bit of a no mans land model....S- line and Vorsprung are enough as is the case in all new Audis you've gotta get a Vorsprung model for the best looking alloy choices.....but the Vorsprung model has the driver's assistance pack which I'd rather not have....at all waste of money....so far I'd say Floret silver and Daytona will really set the design off far better than the rest of the coloursWhat are everyone's thoughts that side airbags are a £340 option?
Are these extra special versions?
A joke if you don't get these, even on a £40k plus Vorsprung edition.
My wife's £10k Citigo has side airbags at no extra cost.
An interesting video here.
You get a good view of those dash air vents too
Some interesting points on the DRL’s bring different by model.
The cabin materials do look quite nice in this video & I am warming to the car the more I see it ... the S & RS should be nice cars ... but I’d still need to see those air vents in first person
After reading into the options list on Audi uk....it seems that when you spec the matrix headlights...the rears are also upgraded to the lights that do a little dance for you when activated much like in larger audis

5 years ago my Sepang S3 retailed at £39k
Pan roof
Sepang paint
Black styling package
Stronic
Privacy
Technology package plus
Comfort package
Bang and Olufsen
Basic S-tronic S3 S3 sportback started at £34k
How things have changed in such a short time .....
Surely an S3 without options will be well specced?
With the exception of airbags that is.
So what’s your best estimate at a well specced S3 mate ?
Eh...what percentage of discount did get on yer mid life crisis boy racer hatchback.... laughs out loud...as @KenL has rattled me over the knuckles for using the acronym exactly who knows what price it'll be? my S3 was £48k plus change RRP got a good deal on it well better than l could get up here in Scotland's Audi dealerships
Educated guess £52k like for like on the spec of my existing car minus discount if by chance l dont get the deal l am happy with I'll just hold onto my current car until l do....its still in immaculate condition paint is in swirl free condition interior is still as new...barring the drivers seat...obviously it has a couple of slight Audi creases but would put many brand new cars to shame ....easy to walk away from a deal when your not desperate to change mate

Wow, that is pricey for a S3!!
I knew your S3 was expensive, but didn’t think 48k expensive! It is unique and I guest that what makes it worth the money.my S3 was £48k plus change RRP got a good deal on it well better than l could get up here in Scotland's Audi dealerships

Define well specified....everyone has a different idea of this....or do you mean fully loaded for £48k...which in my opinion is about £3k out ie £51kI knew your S3 was expensive, but didn’t think 48k expensive! It is unique and I guest that what makes it worth the money.
In relation to the question on a well speced new shape S3, I was actually going to say 48k!
Totally correct - well specified is subjective! I meant a well specified S3 would be around 48k.Define well specified....everyone has a different idea of this....or do you mean fully loaded for £48k...which in my opinion is about £3k out ie £51k
It’s not really about the list price as most will be bought on PCP.
it will really depend on what, if any deals are available. But £50k for an S3 is crazy money, a local BMW dealer had some fantastic deals on well specd unregistered M2 competitions recently, which were actually costing less than my previous S3 did, given that sort of choice I know where my money would be going.

They always lure you into a false sense of security by getting the monthlies down to where the customer feels they have a good deal then pile on the difference on the balloon payment at the end of the agreement... Specifying the car with extra toys is all fine if you 100% decide to hand back or swap before the end of the finance deal.I hear this said fairly frequently and I don’t understand. Surely the list price still matters for those on PCP (and other financing arrangements) as your agreeing to more credit meaning the monthlies will be higher, unless I’m missing something?
Cheers!

Yes but there will always be a certain amount of flexibility between VAG finance and the dealers. Is it not Audi finance who set the balloon payment rather than the dealer?
I just sell em privately...pay Audi what l owe **** trading it in never everYes but there will always be a certain amount of flexibility between VAG finance and the dealers.

My wee A3 wasn't worth anywhere near the balloon as a trade in or private sale that's why I had to hand it back.
They wanted more than the final month payment to VT it as well when I was trying to get rid before it needed taxed. So glad I was on flexible service as they might have pushed me on that given that I had it for 37 months.
Clever Audi!
LOl. From what I recall I banged my head the day before I signed up on the finance.Did ye bang that heed of yours that very day....cause that was very sensible of ye....lol
