Next model A3

Nice review here by Auto Express. It doesn’t solve everyone’s interior quality and design worries though! In fact, it’s the only review I have seen where the reviewer seems like he might own an A3 and have the same worries as people on here!

Interior is certainly a set backwards. Shame

Good review. Interesting that the reviewer said that the quality of the 1 series is better.

I've not lived with one but I wish these digital instruments were still optional. I don't think my eyes would like to be looking at that all the time, especially at night.

They’ve got the interior so badly wrong, looks cheap, the design is all over the place and clearly not very functional in the video.

Interesting review! How he summed up the interior against the 1 series and A class would seem about right (albeit we've yet to actually feel/touch the new A3 first hand). I'm not going to get to hung up on this review, as it will be the S3/RS3 that will get my attention and thoughts. Even the black edition will be a good marker for the those wanting a nicely finished "everyday" car and not a performance car.

i would agree with you mate but then I’d get my knuckles wrapped by a certain someone lol :)

The interior was the deal breaker for me and that touch screen only is a massive flaw imo. I’ve now got used to 4 ways of controlling - touch screen / console touch pad / steering wheel touch pads / voice commands & it’s superb. I’m not sure why Audi have limited this car in this way ?

I still hope I may warm to the interior when I see in first person & the quality whilst a level below the current A3 will still be decent as the reviewer states.

I’m sure this car will satisfy the general Audi buyer ... it’s just not pushing any boundaries both technically or visually is it.

I’m still hopeful the S3 and RS3 should be very good cars overall though & hey no car is perfect :icon thumright:

yup. Same as the Q2 and Q3 now. My Q2 is actually good quality but the entry-level is **** poor. Really bad quality. You have to spec cars up nowadays to get the level of quality that used to be standard. Sad but true.

To be honest l was never a huge fanboy of the standard A3/S3 interior ie the air vent trim finish, the dark black interior, the standard seats...flat as a witches boobs... the colour tone of the aluminium strip across the middle of the dash/door cards looked out of place in the S3 that's being hypocritical of course and l made sure l never got full black leather in either of my S3's, the review car's interior trim especially on the dashboard and centre console ain't exactly to my taste either but it's certainly better than high gloss black plastic trim you'll find in other cars...and no doubt the S3/RS3 will have different trims textures available to chose from..you always have to tick the interior option boxes to try and jazz up any Audi up,the out going facelift car...is still better built than the new A class and 1 series that's basically what he said..won't argue with that...l love the interior of my car...

What certain person would that might Mr AMG lol l do see your point of view with the interior somewhat but like l said once I've planked my buttocks in the driver's seat of the S3 then I'll make judgement
For me the 1 series looks good but bland inside but BMW didn't have to try too hard to improve the new cars interior over the older 1 series same applies to the mercedes A class last interior was dreadful and in my opinion. They now went over the score with new cars interior with them screens...The old Audi A3 had the best interior by far ...and now the new A3's interior gets severely criticised because Audi hasn't trumped the build quality of the older out going car, victims of their own success
But this is the same across the full Audi model range, lve watched reviews of the RSQ8 even this model has so called surfaces not befitting of a car in its price bracket
Its comes across to me as if a car maker fooks up the previous models interior then simply improves the new yin to "standard build levels" it gets praise heaped down upon it..

Yosemite is just amazing, one of those places that just takes your breath away. It almost doesn't seem real at some points.

Myself and some friends were booked to go to California in June for a road trip in some muscle cars ending in Vegas for some partying, totally gutted as that is now unlikely to go ahead, we have been planning it for a year.

Hope it goes ahead for you mate i'd love to do something like that . My trip to Dubai at the end of may as just been cancelled
gutted but it was expected and I'd rather be safe and well than sorry .

We've had our long weekend cancelled in April. Money given back, so that's good. Our week away in June looks like being re-scheduled for next year, as they don't issue refunds. Only re-scheduling, which is fine by us. And our week away in September? We're hopeful but I bet we can't go on that either.

While we are on this topic, regarding flights, do not cancel or make changes yourself! wait until the flight has been cancelled and then you will by law get a full refund. If you cancel then you have no way of getting a refund and you will normally get just the taxes back for your flight. If you take a voucher for the price of your flight then be careful which company as quite a few could easily go bankrupt soon. Hotels seem to be very generous at the moment, my trip to the US for 10days from tomorrow was all fully refunded, hotels where normally non-refundable but seems that most Hotels are changing their conditions due to coronavirus situation.

All seems as expected, very conservative overall design, however I am quite disappointed with the interior, the 8V stood out in its class because of the excellent quality interior and now it’s just more plastic, much like the A1.

I just can't warm to that interior, the vents either side of the steering wheel look ridiculous.

So embarrassing that Audi (& Rory) mention the connection to Lambo/R8 on the interior.
It's like Audi are trying to polish a **** :-o...

I really like lots of the aspects of the exterior. The overall shape looks good & sporty. Much better looking as a 5 door than before rather than a 3 door with added doors.
They should have ditched the fake vents and exhausts though.

I'd just wait pal and see what happens with covid 19 first before booking . I was going Dubai in may with the family for my 40th Goodwood fos in July and America in July just me and the wife all cancelled I guess I'll have to stay 39 for another year :whistle2:

Lost my April Algarve trip now Madeira is July too? Noooooooo!

All I know is you said your car had been valued at £2910 and I thought it would be worth more and you said it was on audi financing.

The daft old chap just missed a digit when typing with his thumbs lol. That much was obvious as soon as the post was read. Yes he always has an opinion, and no I don’t always agree with him (he wouldn’t respect anyone who did, lol) but he’s always good value, and every forum needs a @jassyo06 to keep things lively and interesting. Let’s keep it fun and not pounce on little typing errors, eh. :hi:

I am the Only one that l know of on this thread atm who has a keen interest in buying the new A3/S3 ...hopefully more will come on soon after this scenario we are all dealing with is all gone ...as for you Mr AMG....you'll never ever convinced me to buy a Merc...so stop it and behave yourself lol

I’m very keen to see what the new S3 looks like ‘in the metal’ (the only way to truly judge the aesthetics of a new car - hence holding aff on an opinion until now) - I’m liking the new sloping roofline of the Sportback, the continued offering of roof-rails - mock me if you want but this is a USP of the S3 - makes it a properly sensible family wagon in a a package that it still ‘exciting’ so you don’t have to join the rest of the boring SUV sheep flock (no offence @X3man - yours is actually one of the very few I do doff my cap to when I see one ‘in the wild’), and the lines leading up to the rear wheel arches actually makes them look a wee bit flared. Which is not a bad thing.

Compared to a lot of the pretty bland offerings in the same price bracket, especially if the S3 does push out an impressive improvement of 330-ish horses (which will set the new benchmark - I don’t for a second believe that the new model S3 will have the same power output as the outgoing model, as some ‘reviews’ have claimed’) and when the few but subtle and tidy styling ‘tweaks’ are factored in, it’ll be one I’ll be very interested in. The base level factory spec A3 will never look interesting - so lookin’ forward to seeing what the more interesting S3 and RS3 models are actually gonna look like in the flesh.

So can we all agree to get on please as is the norm here at ASN :icon thumright:

Yup, agree with this. Give and take. Keep givin’ the give when it comes to opinions and take a few back in good spirits and let’s all endure the cabin fever together and use the forum as our ‘release’. I love my family. Dearly. But *** we were never supposed to spend this much time together! I got so bored and fed up of ‘em all today I took myself away with the dog and drew a cartoon of my him (It was raining, so I couldn’t detail the car, and even if I could have, it hasn’t been driven since I last washed it :sadlike:).

I wouldn’t hand over any cash until this is over and done with, big risk of companies going bust at the moment.

I was supposed to be going to New York next week and it’s impossible to get hold of the company I booked it through and my travel insurance provider right now.

When this does end there will be great deals.

I really like the exterior of the A3 and must say the interior is starting to grow on me .

It will be the new S3 or a white A45s for my next car

Surely it should be RS3 or A45S as likely similar price range as opposed “only” S3

The daft "still very good looking older chap"missed a digit....Picasso lol
If l was a tad curt with anyone l apologise...
Them air vents do from some angles look a tad ungainly on camera I'll admit that it's not enough to make me change my mind...sportback is a just that...went off them big time several years ago one the reasons l got rid of mines

I dont like any of the colours that are available atm...there should be a S3 specific colour there always has been, sprint,estoril,sepang,Ara...yeah l can see it being 2021 before the S3 hits the actual showrooms but it should preview late Autumn but who knows something to look forward too l suppose

Well it was supposed to be May for the S3 with ordering a few days later but I would imagine that's not going to happen now, although they can still release the info and dealers would probably take orders over the phone

No Head-up display?

Since BMW 1 series and Mercedes A class both have them available on there cars, I would be disappointed if Audi don't make it an option.

Not something that I would be bothered with but they have been available on MINI since 2014.
Keep up Audi :)

Think it's available on the Vorsprung version
