What you listening to today

Hope you like this little lot @plasticpenguin

Oh yes. Thanks. Totally my bag. Although my taste is very eclectic, my 'go to' genre is Soul, in the main. That Bobby Womack soundtrack reminds me a little of this:

Also have a few Stevie Wonder albums (Anthology/Looking Back, Songs In The Key of Life and Talking Book).

Listening to Ronnie Lane and Slim Chance album on vinyl: 'Ooh La La: An Island Harvest'. Fabulous album from the king of 60s songwriting.

Loved the Small Faces, and his solo stuff was so underrated.

Last dug out some rare stuff.

Hundred Reasons

Radiohead - Unplugged
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Longpigs - On and On. This wouldn't sound out of place on a Hollies album.

(That's about as heavy as I get).

Normal service has resumed: :thumbs up:

Otis Clay - Try To Live My life Without You

Chi-lites (12" single) - Have you Seen Her

The Tea Party. Few people have heard of this group. I have their album 'Splendor Solis'. They are an alternative rock group (not generally the genre I gravitate to) but this is so different: They bring in pseudo Asian style to the clangy guitars. The lead singer sounds like Jim Morrison.

And this track, 'Winter Solstice', has a slight whiff of Dueling Banjos from the film "Deliverance".

Okay, a couple more I've listened to tonight. I don't, or rarely, listen to whole albums, only selected tracks. Usually listen to my music once little'un and Mrs. P has gone to snoozeland. Great way of winding down.

The Small Faces - Ogden's Nut Gone Flake (Vinyl)
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall (CD). It's the only solo album I like of Jacko
Bruno Mars - 24k Magic (CD)

Yesterday, while having a BBQ, had the back door open and re-lived the Mod revival scene of the late 70s/early 80s:

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Geno (still love this record. Oh the memories)

The Jam - Setting Sons.

T-Connection - On Fire

And Mrs. P put on her Elton John album.

Just a Greatest Hits album. Somewhere in my collection of vinyl I have Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Little musical joke: What does Adele and a Bailiff have in common? They both like chasing pavements.

While cooking the dinner I was listening to 'Solar Radio' on the Sky Box (Channel 0129). They play classic, Northern and neo-Soul and Funk.

Last night I played 'Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'arby'. He was so underrated. 'Wishing Well' still sounds wonderful.
Also played some tracks off my compilation album of Northern Soul.

Also dug out the album 'Let Love Rule', Lenny Kravitz first outing. Can't believe it came out in 1989. The first time I heard the title track on a radio we had at work, thought it was Elvis Costello (one of my musical heroes). Listen for yourself. Real cool dude.

Found a few singles from the Purple Hearts and The Truth, both from the Mod revival era.

Really like the Wombats. The singer reminds me a little of Terry Hall of The Specials and Fun Boy Three.

Returning to a soulful sound. Eli 'Paperboy' Reed. He image doesn't match the sound. A sublime song..

Also really like Weezer. Love this vid from their blue album. Happy Days. Eyy.

And this from Weezer. Another very amusing vid from the green album.

Hope you don't mind me asking. Did I read you come from north of the border? You may like this band.

Little story: In December 1982 The Jam played their farewell gigs at Wembley Arena. Their support band was these guys. The best gig I've ever attended in terms of pure adrenalin rush.

From the album The Crossing. Love it.

I was lucky to see Big Country a few times (Wembley, Brixton Academy and Town and Country Club, London)

This video recorded at the Town and Country club. A mate and myself were there, and this is one of my fav cover versions. My overriding memory from the Town and Country club was how stifling it was.

One album I can happily listen to all the way through is XTC's 1982 album 'English Settlement'.

Elvis Costello 'King Of America'. Another fabulous album.

This album over the weekend..

Love this track, Ghost. However, I can't stick Fleetwood Mac and 'Rumours' is probably an album your parents would like.

It's the same with a lot of Michael Jackson's solo stuff, Coldplay... just too kitschy for my taste.

Have been listening to Semisonic. They had a few big hits back in the 90s.

And some Foo Fighters

Thanks @nickc29 , I had a quick listen on YouTube and I like the sound of them.

Have they only release one album so far?
Days Are Gone

Look forward to you posting in this section :icon thumright:

Been listening to Luke Cage soundtrack. Some of these Marvel shows have good tunes in the background

Last night (Monday) had a 90s evening, while cooking dinner.

Sheryl Crow. Such as well crafted and polished track.

Early Manic street Preachers.

My favourite track from Radiohead. Not a huge fan but this reminds me so much of 'Paint It Black' by The Stones, from 'The Bends' album. Wicked.
