Here we go - Hesitation issues

I sort of know how you feel here having had the plug problem on a brand new car at just 3.5k miles... for me despair set in pretty quick having had a load of trouble in the past with my V6, especially when you just shelled out £30k+ to get a warranty and reliability. That said i have done nearly 3.5kmiles more now on the remap and plugs and all seems well in fact better than well as the car loosens up a bit. Only you can decide how much agro you can take but my feeling is you are almost there and with a clutch you might be there.Any performance car is a money sponge but without reliability its a total pain in the neck as well. dont be fooled into thinking the other mans grass is greener unless you know someone with a 335d who "hasnt" had a new turbo :).....and do you think you would not want to map that anyway after about a week ??...or less.
To me the S3 is a totall package of niceness and the engine is only part of the equation. change to another car and you might have a quick engine but will it have the S3 package of niceness ? that is why i bought the S3.
By the way. I looked into the porker route before the S3 and yes you get 2 years warranty because they simply couldn't sell them without but after 2 years they will not want it back and their dealer prices are 5k-10k up on non dealer prices so basically you are just buying that warranty anyway.
Step back, have a good think and dont let it spoil your Christmas mate. :)

I am not. If anything it would probably be between M3, 911 and GT-R. Too much money that I don't really have...
I know you will, but I'd sit back and have a long think about what to do,and if you're going to change cars as well.
Each of those are great cars, and each, like the S3,has it's good and bad points, and running costs, especially if you do modify any of them, are at least as bad as the S3,if not worse,so do be very careful.
The GT-R in many ways is the best of all of them, and for me the only real downsides were the costs of upping the power, and the size and weight of the thing......it's huge compared to the S3,and it's weight does show on a wet road.

OK, update on the situation.

Took the car into Audi today and they checked it over. They said that the car logged a misfire once. This must have been the first time the car had the problem and the EML flashed for a bit. The times after that, it was still hesitating (not as much as the first time though..) but no light was flashing.

They haven't done anything to the car as they said that it only logged that it misfired and they don't know what caused the misfire. I asked if it logged which cylinder(s) misfired and they said no. Bearing in mind that it hasn't happened for probably a week now, I'm going to see how long it takes for the hesitations to come back. If and when they do and they become more regular, I'll be taking the car down to Kim to see what he can come up with. The story continues....

Anyone know the difference between the S3 engine and the TTS, coming from the TT forum most of the guys on there are running S1 TTS's and are not having any issues, could this point at the induction issue? but saying that I dont recall them burning out plugs like it appears the S3 does, any thoughts?

The TT-S runs a different engine cover (the S3 engine cover has integrated MAF).

Anyone know where the MAF is on TT-S, and why it's rated as 272PS rather than 261PS?

Could be a part of the jigsaw, as it's not he worlds greatest piece of design which is further exacerbated by a reluctance by Audi to mount battery in boot and run a proper sized air box.

I thought the engines were pretty much identical in the newer S3's and the TTS? Because when I went and had the map done and the standard figure came out at 275bhp, Kim said that was normal as they just slot in the same spec engine as the TTS now?

Approved dealer Porche's come with 2 year warranty.

That is not what I meant. I was thinking that if I need to get a clutch I can then go Stage2+ at little extra outlay. However CAI noise puts me of and so do cam follwer horror stories with the HPFP. The alternative - sell, put the clutch and 2+ upgrade cash with the money from sale and buy a car of S3 Stage 2+ equivalent performance but not a modded car.

If it helps, my car is going into ITG in January as they are using it to develop a closed/quiet kit suitable for up to stage 2+, once complted I'll post a review with some details - they have identified a market for S3 owners wanting to keep the refinement - must have a fussy Mrs like me :)

Nice one. Crushingly effective device that's always had a bit of a Back to the Future Flux Capacitor look about it. My Audi dealer found it deeply disturbing!

Got a TTS and an S3 and the only difference I am aware of to account for the small bhp difference is that the TTS runs a freer flowing exhaust...other than that they are the same .

TBH 10 bhp is 3.5%ish and engines will vary more than that from the factory

Does your TTS have conventional air box with a MAF?

Last time mine went in for a service, one of the techs was looking at it first, then all of them were over the engine bay.....quite amusing.!

Any update on this Spin140?
