Well the late night mechanics is becoming a bit of a weekly thing now. S3baby gets to mine we get the tunes on, grab a beer or coffee, and try to get through some jobs on the long list of things to do.

S3baby purchased one of Bills 3" Turbo Intake Pipes last weekend when we were down there for a rolling road day so we thought we'd get that on tonight.

Firstly got the car in the garage:

For those of you that haven't seen a Badger 5 3" TIP where have you been!? IT looks like this:

As you can see compared to the silicone jobbie we took off there is going to be a lot less restriction:

Anyway got cracking with the tools and started to put the new TIP together:

We ran into a few issues with the way the catch can was plumbed in but we managed to improvise round it and it ended up like this:

A quick wash of the hands and a coffee we then grabbed the laptop and VCDS cable and hit the road to test.

Last weekend S3baby hit around 199g/s on bills rollers so anything higher was going to be bonus air flow. I'll attach some of the logs below when I get to work tomorrow but it now peaks at 214g/s at 18psi!!!

Very impressive gains of air flow i'd say.

Lookin good mate Ive been waiting 2 weeks for mine because of fitment issues Apy non Esp I get mine tomorrow its a shame your so far away from me otherwise I would be callin on the late night mechanics club lol...... Get more done on a night when there is no f@@ker bothering ya

I've been with the A4 diesels boys. So I had no idea what it looked like.
Allways assume you was talking about something else. :)

Thanks for the pic. Made it all clear.

Thats a nice size garage you got there you lucky man.

Can't be some late night mechanics.
Friday nights use to be our play night at my mates breaker yard.
Fitting V12s in to BMW E21s was fun or welding up my 3 series cause the rear axel thought it be a good idea to ripe it sell out of the floor.
I miss that place. lol

There's a slight power loss at 6000 revs that was consistantly appearing. You can see the drop in air flow on the figures above too.

You have timing pull from 6k up and no doubt EGT's coming into play too mate... log block 031 with 002 and 020 and see what the fuel is doing... EGT protection will kill turbine energy and power...

Have you got similar logs from S3Baby's? Would be good to see the difference in the data.

I can feel a FMIC coming on....

Damn man this reminds me of the days of my S3, poxy APY engine made it very difficult to use the uprated tip, but forge supplied me with a load of silicone hoses & jubes, I made it fit, damn this was so many years ago now am I really 37 lol, but it worked, so result, but this one is some fat airflow, looks good to me.
