Well after thinkin i had fixed my diesel leak, today I got very strong smell again.
Checked the bolt under the vac pump (just below the fuel pipe) ,which was not tight, went to tighten it and round it went. Ffs!!!
    Out come the tap set, ran a 6mm up it, which was baggy as a granny, wobbled it's may all the way in, so now the dilemma is;
1- Get a imperial tap set and bolt
2- Take the head of, drill ot out to a 7mm

I'm hoping to go with 1 but open to your thoughts.

Can you get a dremel in there to make the sides flatter to get a socket or some fixing on to unscrew, I've done this before with success.

Bolt is out. But when you put another 1 in after running a tap down it. The bolt won't get tight, well does then spins!

Ah sorry my mistake, so the tap is the wrong size, so just get a bolt to suit the tap used or change tap set & get bolt to suit, whichever route should be fine, taking care of bolt used is able to handle any heat etc as some are much harder than others.

Noway will you get a drill in the space between the engine and bulk head.
That's why the head would have to come of, imperial tap it is!!!

Go for 1/4 bsf, has a tpi of 26 where as m6 would equate to 25.4 tpi so very similar. If the thread is badly pulled you may even be able to screw 1/4 in without tapping however if you tap it it will make a cleaner thread

Ring around bolt companies and ask if they do a oversized self tapping screw.

Did you mix it right as the weather is a bit damp maybe you should have put more hardener in it also you have to have no sign of oil and grease for this stuff to key to the metal

I have a oil leak/ smell of diesel
I'm sure my tandem pump needs tightening up and/or new gasket
When it's been raining the ground is covered in oily water

The metal plate gaskets can't be re used they don't reseal. Get a new gasket they are only around £5 and replace the gasket.

Eventually got some time to have a tinker today. Justin case I got a M5 & M6 helicoil kit.
Went with the M5 first as the M6 tap looks massive. The 5 tap went in really well but I can't get the helicoil to stay in, every time I wind the bolt in, the helicoil winds out, proper did me ed in.
So at the moment I have put another M5 helicoil in with plenty of lock tight on, try again tomorrow and see if it holds.
