Wow nice car and wow a jhm dealer in the UK.

So you are going to fit the supercharger Stage II?
So with all those mods you must be going for their exhaust system to boot.

I love the idea of the jhm supercharger and the great price compared to other kits. The stage II kits been in testing for some time so maybe we might get to findout more about it now.

There is one person in the UK that fitted the stage I kit but after the install the guy disappeared off the face of the planet. I do know there was issues with the AC lines and the guy listed all rthe issues fitting the kit and what he did to get round them as left and right hand drive have quite a few differences.

Well ive spoke to dru at jhm regarding the conversion who did mention the AC lines, but hes gonna make sure we have all the correct piping etc to make this a plug and play build so to speak. We will be using the jhm down pipes but will be sticking with the miltek, the jhm 5r clutch kit, the stage 1 jhm software for the time being, until jhm send me the stage 2 software to install.

The engine will be going to rob @ tsr performance as he built a great motor for the big turbo A4.
Although he informs me the weakness in this engine is the pistons and the bores, so we will be keeping the stock displacement but going for forged pistons...
This way i can go to see my other tuners for custom maps until jhm come back with theirs.

I have plans for the brakes which will sure to be a pant twitcher... this will be happening first allong with the clutch and downpipes, then i think we can go from there :)

I'm surprised your keeping the Miltek it's been proven to offer zero gains just noise where has the jhm has shown gains over stock.

So with pistons what do they recon the engine with be able to handle and what sort of power do you expect to get out of a full blown jhm stage II?

One more question........ how much will a UK stage I kit cost?

Its a fair comment but my reason for the miltek is for the noise, im not chasing figures this time round so the noise is what i love about the RS4. I dont want to steer too far away from what the car actually is. If i do this purposely for the figures i will just loose control of the build and end up building something that is just unreliable and no longer a joy to drive. Im keen to hold the RS4's unique natural race car characteristics throughout the build.

As for the strength of the motor, the stock V8 has pankel rods as standard so strength isnt an issue from the bottom end. The issue we will most likely find is AIT's (Air Inlet Temps, for the ones who dont know the slang :) )
Going throught the roof so the last thing we want is to melt a piston, so we will forge the pistons for this reason only. As far as im aware the standard engine is very strong.. like 600lbft strong so were gonna be safe.
The general design of the engine is on our side in the fact that the fueling is used to cool the bore so aslong as we keep the AIT's down we should be good for 600 - 650bhp and 550lbft or in the region of.
Im not set on that,id rather have a healhy comfortable build than a bread line monster.
I want to get up and drive this thing with no issues whatsoever everday if required.

I love this car as it is and thats what i really want to hold in this build. It needs to stay sensible.

OK well that sound fair enough, so what sort of pricing is expected for the Stage I SC and are you able to elaborate any info on the Stage II setup?

Unfortunately mate, i cant confirm any specific pricing until i have completed mine. I want to make sure ive got everything nailed down so we can offer plug and play packages.
Unfortunately JHM havent disclosed too much info regarding stage 2 at present. All i do know is its very close to completion. Im hoping it ties in nicely with the start of next years show/race season where we can really push the brand with some 1/4 mile times to match.
I will also be using other tuners to se what we cab develop on our own as well. So the options are definitely going to be a plenty :)

On another note, does jhm know what happened to the only jhm kit sold to the UK has most of the info they know about the install on a righthand drive car would have come from him?

Ill speak to jake see if he can tell me any more about it. All i know is they said the aircon had to be modified so its something they are well aware of. It maybe a case of we have to adapt the kit at our end to suit. In which case ill look into the most reliable and cost affective options.

Its loaded up now. Hes done a good build, although im confused as to where hes gone. Personally i would have wanted to see the end. Although i never got the final figures for the A4, the build still made into the magazine and that was my goal. Nice attention to detail though

It was a very good thread loads of info ando how to info, but then just disappeared which was strange in its own right and figured jhm must have some idea what went on with the build as he was getting it mapped by them.

I spoke to jake who said he hadnt heard anything from him for a while.. then from nowhere he messaged jake yesterday regarding a jhm clutch, so the build still exists and is still on the road by the sounds of things. Hopefully he may pop up with a some figures and feedback etc? I guess no news is good news

How strange is that, still don't explain why he stopped posting on it and I'm surprised JHM was not chasing him for feedback on it. The UK and Europe could be a good market for this kit due to price (exchange rate permitting).

Its a good price but with the clutch, downpipes, charger and hpfp upgrades the kit comes to £9500 with import tax, this is then stage 2 ready. Fitting costs on top of this price make it probably in the region of £11500 fitted which is still cheaper than the other options. It would be great for him to post some figures. Im hoping to have this full set up in my possesion by january :)

Would you need there downpipes for the conversion and could another option here be found for the clutch to reduce costs.

Would the £11,500 cover the tuning cost? Plus some people would be keen to fit this themselves to bring down the cost. The cheaper you can make this the better (without reducing quality) most don't want to pay 50-75% of the value of there car to supercharger their cars but would be still be keen to supercharger their cars.Have they thought about licencing some parts here in the UK to reduce cost.

If you want stage 2 figures the hardware is a compulsary upgrade for the performance to be achievable. That price is with the stage 5 jhm 5R clutch and light weight SMF, also as you know the v8 has 2 hpfp's so that doubles the price over the tfsi straight away. Options like maybe just a stage 1 clutch, your own exhaust plus down pipes and second hand autotech internals could bring the price down, but this is what JHM recommend for your car to perform at stage 2 as it should do/or how they have designed it to.
Theres always ways of cutting corners but on a car like this imo is not an option.
To save costs i would recommend a stage 1 upgrade with everything stock, this would save you alot. Also doing it yourself is an option to save you some coin.
The price is an on the road price which includes the software upgrade.

JHM also recommend a built motor for stage 2 as well, so theres a considerable increase in price there aswell.
But other companys say the internals are adequate.

I realise people dont want to spend half the cost of their car on a supercharger conversion... but my answer to this would be that this conversion isnt for them.
Its not for everybody but after spending 20k plus on a an RS4 your options are limited... this is still the cheapest option on the market. You just have to ask yourself if its what you want.

For me theres no questions to ask, its a definite yes from me... but that may not be your view.

I think alot of is based aroubd how much you love the car, how long you want to keep it and how desperate you are for more power.
Ill be honest, im very happy with how mine performs and im not really that desperate to make it quicker, but being the person i am, i get an idea in my head and i just have to do it... even my mates ask me what goes on in my head but i just cant answer it. I must love making more work for myself. Just that feeling of accomplishment.

Im hoping this opens more doors for people and gives people the confidence to do it themselves, or even bring it to me :)

I know that's exactly how you felt with the last car,and it's much the same for me.
It can be frustrating to come up against barriers, but the feeling of achievement when it comes together and works is unbeatable, isn't it.

It is mate, although the more barriers can make you loose interest, so im keen to make this as simple as possible. I really dont want to fall put of live with this one, which is why so far ive not even touched it yet, its exactly how i bought it. It needs to appreciated, respected and enjoyed before any kind of modifications start, otherwise you never end up doing it for the right reasons. Just becomes 'a job'.

The amount of people that i speak to on facebook and on here everyday regarding issues on the A4 B7 tfsi is unbelievable.
Im hoping the Rs4 becomes the same.
Still in love with the B7 though, value for money and looks are just unbeatable.

Every car has it's faults it seems.

The TFSi in it's various forms is an excellent engine, capable of very high specific outputs, but the faults or difficult to get around.
If a little bit more had been put into that aspect, who knows how much more could be done, but then I don't think VAG were looking towards tuning.....

Ive had the car 3 weeks on saturday and ive done well to leave it alone...
That was put to an end yesterday when i started looking at colours to powder coat the wheels.
Within half an hour, the RS4 was soon sat on a set of 19" BBS from the A4..
So while i was waiting for the wheels to strip in the acid, i set to work in the front end additions ive been wanting to try :)

Any way enough talking, heres some pics

    It definitely looks more evil..

Now the wheels have finished stripping in the acid ill tell you more about the colour.
Ive gone for a gloss black with light coat of turquoise blue pearl just to add a little sparkle in the sunlight, but not bling enough to change the overall look of the car.
    See what you think
    [IMG]

    After powdering...

With no flash on the camera.

Then with the flash on :)

Just an update people. Cars gone back to the dealer for a few issues to be looked at. Unfortunayely until that is sorted and paid for (not by me) the body work wont be able to commence.

But if all goes to plan and all the problems are fixed i will be starting the bodywork in order to prepare for the supercharger purchase in january. We are on target, pending the dealer making things happen. Im dying to show my plans but all will he shown/announced in due course :)

Car came back with most issues solved, still a clunk from the steering, so ive sent it to my Audi specialist and asked them to pull the car apart, if they find anything untoward then to fix it and send me a bill, which will then be sent to the dealer. Other than that its back as it should be. What i did find though was seperate spacers on the front, rather than one solid spacer. So im going to replace these first and then send it for a geo.

After the inspetection IVC in leeds told me it is an excellent specimen of an Rs4 and to not worry about the steering as it will be investigated.

As for the paint work, that will most likely commence in the next couple of weeks when work dies off for christmas. So some full strip down pics etc for you guys and gals to have a look at. I will keep you updated :)
