Hi all,

Earlier today as I was going down the motorway I noticed that the glass in my drivers side wing mirror was flapping around quite violently. It seems that glass has seperated from the backing. I’ve ordered a replacement one. What I would like to know is how to remove the existing glass.

Thanks in advance

Removing the glass is quite simple, move it around until you have room to get your fingers or a trim tool in behind then pull it out of the motor, don't yank too hard because if you have auto dimming/heated mirrors then there will be a couple cables to remove as well

Just wait for the new glass to arrive and you will be able to make out how it is attached.

Plenty of vids on you tube of how to remove the mirror glass.

That's where I looked when I had to fix my wife's Jetta. Except I'm a cheapskate so I just glued the glass back onto the backing. Was still going fine 2 years later when we sold the car. :D

New glass turned up today, took all of about 5 minutes to fit, relatively straight forward. Now I don’t have to worry about it flying off down the motorway!
Thanks for the help.
