I was driving down to London day before yesterday when I start seeing intermittent clouds of smoke from the back of the car (grey ish). So I pull over to take a look and try restating the engine, it starts again fine initially until I start to pull away and drive off the hard shoulder, then there is a big loss of power in 1st, like there is not enough revs.
This time when I restart the engine it jumps to normal idle but pretty soon after loses rpm down jumping between 500-700 back and forth like its choking, before cutting out on its own.
Is the turbo blown? From what I have heard its more of a definite moment and one big cloud of oil smoke. The breakdown guy seemed to think so but I have no lights up on the dash at all?
Any ideas or do I accept that the turbo has to be replaced?
