Tinting brake lights

ive been looking for a long time to get my brake lights lightly tinted (like Merc OEM look, maybe bit darker) but cant find any company who will do it or that sells thm. i can find the LED design rear lights but i want to keep my normal lights and just get them darker. any one know where i can get it done? i dont really want to touch the lights my self cos wouldnt have a clue and would prob mess them up.
also if i tint them slightly, will they be illegal and void any insurance etc?

Why would you want to make it harder for people to see your brake lights?

i tinted mine my self with some stuff off ebay but put to many coats on so went to dark so i rubbed em back down to normal... ive never sprayed either but its pretty easy to do heres what they used to look like when i sprayed em and the lights were fine there back red again now though

I think they looks quite stealth actually, the lexus lights on a corsa are cavish though
