Is there any guides to tinting rear lights on here or somewhere else?.

i did light smoke on my old A3 and it looked perfect. just a subtle tint to make it look nice cherry red instead of the ugly scarlet red they came out the factory with.

I have a 3M (I think) waffle shaped laminate on mine. It still lets enough light thru.... I think it makes the car look a lot better

Yes I saw an A3 with them tinted and really liked the red once they re tinted. What percent tint did you use?

Have you thought about Lamin-X? I used it on my headlights to good effect. It's like a clear vinyl wrap, it comes in loads of different colours and shades:
