Cars seemed to of gone quite slugish of late... It still flys up to what speed i want it to,but theres just no torque there any more.. Just feels like a standard 2.0...

Got it up on VAG com,but no faults recorded.....

Pete...

You can log the mass air flow with vag com i beleave,
I cant remember which measuring block it is off the top of my head ( somebody on here will no dout tell you) but i wouldnt know what figures are "good" and what shows a possible fault.

deece or anyone with VAG have you tried this: http://audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=317

Just wondered what boost readings you are getting now you have new MAFs. My delivered boost is a bit below requested boost. The previous owner of my car put a new MAF in before I bought it so my maf should be good. I think I have a leak somewhere though.

Yeah I did this when I was trying to work out why my car didn't seem very fast, but my requested Vs actual boost was pretty much the same.

I find the best thing to log is block 120 which is torque. You can turn this information into a dyno style power graph and apparently is accurate. Using this I was able to see that I was lacking power rather than just getting used to the car - I only had 180bhp due to the knackered MAF, I'm remapped so it should've been 260ish!!

just unplug it and go for a drive (ignore the traction control light which will come on), if it feels the same then the MAFS at fault..... simples

I can't believe it's taken 5 replies for someone to say that! Thanks Timmy.

To add to what Tim said, unplug it and take it for a drive, there's a strong chance, that if the MAF is really ********, it'll actually be noticably faster with the maf unplugged, I've tested a few that got noticably quicker with it unplugged, and of course quicker again with a new working maf.

for such a stupid small component, it can really cause some huge problems.

no probs fella.... always glad to help even if i do send the odd chap in the wrong direction:thumbsup:

You guys are right, but when I had my problems and tried disconnecting the MAF I couldn't be sure if it was faster or that I wanted it to be faster. It wasn't as smooth through the rev range so at certain points it felt faster and at others it felt the same.

After using vagcom it made sense, with broken MAF I had 180bhp, with MAF unplugged the ECU was running on base values, so I must've had about 210bhp, and with the unsmooth revs I don't think the 30bhp difference was enough to tell for sure.

Best way is certainly with vagcom - but unplugging the MAF should be tried first as its a lot quicker and easier.

dont you need to purchase vagcom before you can log these values though...my version wouldnt let me log this

Yep, I have the shareware version and its a bit limited for logging some things.

My mate put an AMK in a mk2 Golf so he has the full version I borrowed when I had my MAF problems

UPDATE................

Put it on my mates VAGCOM,and it came up with NO FAULTS............... But my mates a manager at a VW specialists, and has a crappy little sealey code reader, and that DID come up with a fault, and yup was MAF.. Changed it there and then, and bingo, cars back to full hammer again... :arco::arco:

Cheers for replys though guys....

Pete....

when I read the timmy I was thinking that someone was taking the p!ss, just because we call daft people at work tim or timmy as in Tim nice but dim, or Timmy off south Park.. lol

I've never changed my MAF car still feels as fast as ever, maybe i should unplug it and see what happens?

Sounds a stupid Q is the maf the black box located on the airbox? I have a BMC CDA so its mounted differently.

Thanks :)

J :aggressive:

haha finger my bluetooth name is 'Timmay!!' lol

J, yup itsd the black pipe directly after the airbox with biggish plug in it
