Nope just a 2.0 NA 20v engine but the multitronic is a thing of wonder... put it in sport mode and it responds like a turbocharged engine.

It should it has recently been repaired, got a new filter, fresh oil and a refurbished (read opened up and resoldered the right way) TCM, with the last software and throttle software update. It wasn't cheap but DIY saved me a lot of money.

Just changed the cam cover gasket, no more leaks! and another mysterious advisory sorted and removed for years to come... Now I can relax for a while and enjoy just driving the car.
Al depends on how badly you want things to be as it just came out of the dealer showroom... I just want mine mechanically sound... so that when I need it, it is ready. At the moment it is... but there still are some things I want done. But they can wait.

Snapped the hydraulic operated hinge on the glovebox this morning. I knew it's ABS so used some araldite epoxy glue to fix it back together... the reason for the snapping of it was the hydraulic damper it was realy hard to push in and pull out. Some penetrating silicone spray (oil) later and it's back to it's normal self. the hardest part was waiting for the epoxy to become tacky enough to hold the 2 parts together which took 10 minutes (instead of 5) and the 2 hour curing time ( that actually took less long but that is because i heated the resin up once it started getting tacky) it's now back on the car and the repair is invisible... I could paint the resin satin black to make it even more stealthy but no need it's hidden away.

B7 glove boxes are notorious for breaking.
It is either the hinges, the damper, or the lock assembly, and in many cases, owners suffer all three, been there and had all three along the way.
Mine is empty and locked all the time now, that way no chance of any more breakages.

Yeah I wasn't willing to buy another one once I noticed what was actually the cause of the hinge breaking. One thing I was happy about is that it doesn't have a lock. One less thing to break but yeah the handle can give up the ghost too. Mweh I gave it some extra resin anyway to make the repair sturdier.

well that repair didn't last so i went a got a glovebox hinge repair kit of ebay, it comes with 2 metal brackets and the appropiate amount of screws to strengthen the plastic hinges, it's as simple as taking the lid off, loosen the broken part and screw the strips on... but what i did was re-resin the broken bit first, than put the metal brackets in place and screwed them on. took about 20 minutes.
than eversince i replaced the TCM i still had the selector switch faultcode, with it being intermittent. But the car came with a new one so i finally decided to replace it since removing the gearknob needed quite the amount of force to be pulled off i stopped when i first attempted it as usually i end up breaking stuff that need force... Today i decided enough was enough, checked if the new one was oke, cleaned it to make sure, than replaced went to pull the gearknob off... it came off after trying for a while, it wasn't stuck it's just how they are... very snug fit.
any way removed it and than puled that switch part apart to check it against the new one.. jup the dreaded dislocated magnet that is causing the problem ( more than 1 mm movement in rest position) the new one is solid so quickly swapped the lot around. but haven't wiped the historical faultcode yet. I'm at home today so not in a hurry to go out or drive anywhere. that can wait until i need to go out.
plus there are 2 more things that need sorting:
1- parking sensors - 3 are short to ground so either a cable is cut or they need replacing, need to remove the rear bumper to check them so not happening anytime soon waiting for warmer weather.
2- alarm module - it's beyond the battery fix, so it needs to be replaced. Will buy a good used one and do the external battery mod to it as soon as i get it. This also can wait until the weather is better.
Other than these 2 things the car has been as reliable as it can be, so not messing about with it anytime soon...

Just treated the car to a wash and ceramic coating... still need to give it a few hours to let it harden to go and buff it again but for now it's a black mirror. I haven't taken any pictures as i'm not done yet and seriously the car looks the same right now as it did in the last pictures i put online so why would i bother to take new pictures?
First thing that happened when I got my B7 nearly 6 years ago; I was annoyed at myself since the previous owners hadn't broken it for nearly 12 years before. After discovering it was a common issue, I fitted the metal hinges, which are much stronger and it's been fine ever since. The solution too for the hydraulic damper is to drill a small hole in the back of it to relieve some pressure - it makes the damping less stiff though still smooth, particularly in cold weather. Fortunately I haven't broken the catch or the armrest one either.

I wake up in the orning to run to the shop to find that the keyfob isn't working... uhm strange well just use the key and open the door... f-me no key barrel just a big hole but everything inside the car was how i left it! found the outercover to the barrel under the car but the barrel was gone... clearly an attempt to steal my car.. anyway got the door open in the end than noticed the alarm didn't go off... wait what? so somehow the battery drained itself too! good that way they couldn't drive off!

just had a quick check under the car... I had an exhaust leak that kinds sounded like a fart somewhere around the NS rear area... so jacked the car up and had a good look... Found a crack in the rear exhaust box... now I don't have a welder so i decided to patch it with exhaust paste for the time being... so i filled the crack first, let it dry a bit, than put another thick layer over the crack itself, than smoothed that thick layer out as if it's a plastered patch on a drywall. i than went to start the car up and low and behold the fart is gone and the exhaust note is quite nice.
so while the car was running i went to switch it off, wait noise from the engine isn't right. pop the bonnet to find the pcv pipe cracked off on just on the flexi bit... no problem stuck it back together got some black ducktape wrapped it around it than secured that down with cable ties. And the engine noise is back to normal. Ineed to get some silicone tape as that works better... but for now the pcv still returns the vapours back to the intake through it's patched oem part.
It's a good thing i noticed it immediately... so no oil dripped out of the leaky pcv pipe saved me a ton of cleaning.

That exactly what I would've done, although having the non-S line here, I'd be tempted to swap systems over, patch the crack and put it on the non-S line
Mine is just a 2.0 fsi 20valve alt engine so it only has 1 exhaust box in the rear I'm waiting for a 2.0t being broken near me so I can take the dual exhaust bottom bumper trim and the exhaust so I can make the rear look more balanced... the space for the OS hanges is there so why not?
But it'll probably come with more exhaust noise... something I dislike. I love how silent the car is. So this is a maybe I'll do it but most likely not.

Good shout. And I don't think it'll be any louder as mine was quiet, even when it started to blow. I too prefer the quieter car these days, it's definitely an age thing and better for it I think.
Yeah I do have an aftermarket exhaust rearbox in the shed, full stainless steel with a big bore (4 inch) tip. It will be perfect on the car but, it's made by the same company that fabricates Cherrybomb exhausts... so it is a loud exhaust.... I held it up against the back but because I know how much noise it'll produce extra I haven't put it on... if it was a quiet version I'd go for 2 of those (custom) dual exhaust.
But as I said it's more of a sound amplifier than a silencer so it's a hard pass on that idea.

Even just taking my phone out and using it to channel the musc out of it amplifies the noise quite a bit ( plus it adds deep low notes) so highly unlikely it'll get put on the car... but i might use the tip and weld it on the oem exhaust.... it fills the hole in the bumper quite nicely

i just topped up the fluids.. oil/coolant/brake-fluid/washer-fluid.... checked the powersteering oil too but it is fine for now. 2 months from now it's going to get a full fluid change anyway.
yes I do change fluids at least once a year... i don't drive it enough and fluids are known to breakdown faster when the car isn't used often enough ( one of the reasons I didn't mind getting a FWD less stuff to deal with because of lack of use)

So yesterday my front was subject to a hit and run... the smallest of damage, but the thing that really ****** me off ... my toweye cover was nowhere to be found... And i wouldn't have noticed it if one old man (well in his 70-ties) didn't point it out.. happened while i was shopping and my car was parked in a spot i normally never use... anyway the man said he saw the car pull out quickly, come to quite an abrupt stop, driver got out looked behind his car than drove off... but the man didn't get the license plate number. Just said it was a little black hatchback.
Anyway... damage wise a few light scratches and one little fold with a crease in the bumper and my toweye cover wasn't anywhere to be found.. I removed the bumper when i got home heated up the fold and crease area from the inside with a blowtorch than pushed that out... let it cool down and tada back to normal... than it was polishing the little scratches away did that put bumper back on and sorted.... Now for me finding another toweye cover preferably in my paint colour so i don't have to deal with it not matching perfectly.

so after a good old search i decided to buy one of ebay from a chinese oem manufacturer... will take 2 weeks (or more) to get here but it is in the right colour and compared to getting one here that (same oem quality and probably made in China) at £14.69 ex send costs makes me think they lost the plot. Especially since the one i got was only £3 including send costs. Yeah the fact they already bought them prepainted from China but have them on the shelf doesn't make sense to me that they dare to ask that much for them. the dealer is even worse, so i didn't even ask them how much it would be.
anyway all i need to do now is wait for a while and when it shows up just put it back where it should be.

and i just recieved a letter stating there is a recal on the passengers airbags... so will go in tomorrow to book it in as the letter stated I have to visit my nearest Audi service center and to NOT book it online.
Not sure why you can't do it over the phone chap, i did mine that way to be done at my local dealer, and no problem at all.
just need to take my driving license and national insurance number on the day for the free courtesy car.
lol i'll just wait, no way in hell am i leaving my car there without me watcing them like a hawk... they hate it but that is exactly what'll happen, and since i know the showroom manager I don't mind waiting there. I also don't like them driving my car...

I'm giving the old bus a darn good clean inside and out then taking close up date stamped pics of everything, that way there can be no arguments if my car acquires anything other than it had when i left it with them, sounds a bit overkill I admit but from previous experience, it s the best plan.

2 days after that had the car in for it's recall, i just had them pick it up and got it back the same day as i was the only one that had booked it in at my local dealership that day, only thing i disliked they washed the car and used a chemical to strip road dirt off.. which actually removed the ceramic coating off all the panels. So if you book your car in make sure you mention for them to not wash the car at all. and yes i had the dreaded airbag but the person that worked on my car did a good job, they even send you a video link so you can see the inspection afterwards.
Than last week i fixed the OS rear ABS sensor as the oem one was well and trully past it's best ( was corroded through and stuck to the wheelhub) I had to use a torch on it to get it to come off. New replacement went in quite easily after that.
2 days ago I had enough of the clear headlights with the butt ugly chrome and orange indicators, so they got the Joey-mod treatment and now the front looks all business. I do however need to get some new silver bulbs as the chromatic ones i have right now somehow still show the orange ever so slightly at certain angles. Will order those today. I'm not done with the headlights by the way they still need to get projectors and drls, I couldn't find the lot so once i've located them that means me taking them off and apart again.
And yesterday I finally aligned the frontbumper and bonnet properly.

De-tangoing the headlamps makes such a difference, just makes the car look a bit more up-to-date.
I actually de-chromed them too which makes the biggest difference. Now I didn't touch the reflectors at all as they are the halogen headlights and need the bowls to reflect the lights onto the front. So instead of just going satin black, I used a really high gloss clear coat and gave it 3 layers so the light output is the exact same. It reflects just as much as the chrome part did( basically a black mirror) so I put safety first.De-tangoing the headlamps makes such a difference, just makes the car look a bit more up-to-date.
It looks like they came out of the factory like that and that was my main goal keep it oem looking but fresher than it did before. And if you look at the before and after picture you'll notice the foglights have the same black internals as the now joey modded headlights. In other words: they should've done it at the start.
Now I did remove the orange lenses and I might just tint them and put them in as that'll make it look different completely. But not sure yet... I'll decide on that when I add the other stuff.

I went for Philips chrome indicator bulbs and they work a treat and no orange. Front looks loads better, nice one!
Yeah I normally have silvertech bulbs but these were from my previous car and used... so the silver has come off a bit (not weird they are over 4 years old and have seen daily use in that time)
But did order new ones to replace these to get rid of that slight bit that shines through. I also kept the orange lenses, I'll tint them and check what it looks like first. Actually think it will look really good

new drivers window switch came and replaced it... no big deal took 10 minutes. the cheap aftermarket one actually feels exactly the same as the oem one i took out but somehow a bit more sturdy (probably because it doesn't have any ware). But i can open and close the drivers window again as before and that is all that matters.
plus i removed the bad wrap on the doorstrips the previous owner used to mask some small scratches... I'll adress the strips and the midconsole parts myself at another day. for now the strips are back to that aluminium checkered look, with scratches, but i prefer it over the bad wrapping job that was done. luckily for me i managed to get the vinyl off in one piece on each of the strips although the stuff was already getting hard in some spots.

Found someone breaking these b7's and got myself a working alarm siren module... finally I don't need to look back to check if the car has locked itself properly. I put in a request for some black leather seats... got a text back he dug about and has found a set of black s-line heated front seats, I might just get them and search for the rear bench later on. Yes he's holding them for me and with some luck he might even find a matching rear bench.
About the original alarm siren module, the circuitboard was damaged that much I couldn't just clean the corrosion off and have a working module again... worst bit it was only the circuit to the speaker that was damaged but my repair caused to much resistance on that part... I called it a day because I didn't want to keep trying to fix it.
You can't buy a different model one either even though internally they are the same, as I got one from an a3, I arrived but it couldn't be ***** with ..the software on the eeprom is different and somehow you can't recode it. Now back in the days I would've simply desoldered the eeprom and put in the one from the a4, but I don't have that fancy soldering station anymore. I gave it to my brother when I left the Netherlands. Bad decision but I was convinced I wouldn't need it... how wrong was I aye... any way that is now sorted just a few little things left to do...
Next up will be the rear parking sensors... full replacement of all 4... only one is working the rest are beyond saving. I already took them apart and cleaned them and it worked fine for all of 2 days. Than it acted up again. No big deal apart from having to remove the complete outer rear bumper again...

Rear backrest and rear bench still here if you need them. Have a few people message me asking me if I would split which obviously I didnt want to do but if you are after the rear setup and people are after the front then it could work out . Just an idea ..
