Hi peeps is this necessary to put heat wrap on the downpipe ?

Helps keep the engine bay temps a bit lower and helps prevent things melting...

Its not 'needed' but it certainly helps

I was discussing the same thing with the guys at Badger5 this week, I’m not going to be running a wrapped or ceramic coated downpipe this time, however.... with my engine out, we have much much easier access to cover everything with heat shielding. Like Tuffty says, it does help keep temps down, etc.

Tbh I didn’t wrap it it was yesterday and just wanted to make do with the time I had as it’s rare I do, I was thinking last night like you said I could just wrap everything else nearby, apparently makes the material deteriorate from the heat but also hotter exhaust gasses exit faster so it’s a catch 22 really I might see how much another bonnet will be to just cut to pieces to put on when I track to cool it all down, might be an option
