well I was under the car today and decided to see if the tips really did come off with a little tap of the hammer !
As you can see they did
So now to clean them, started with a soak in a degreaser and water mix for around an hour.
This got a lot of the residue off, then using a soft scourer and some autoglym tar remover I went all over them again, this got nearly all of the residue off as can be seen.
After doing this it has revealed an issue, the tips are no longer chrome and don’t look like they have been for a very longtime .
So what are my options?
1. Leave as is
2. Replace
3. Rechrome them?
4. Paint them black?
Leaving the tar remover residue to dry off then I’ll buff up with some bar keepers friend before refitting
