Im on board with the criticism of the exhausts. Not sure why they did it. Must be relating the the amount of emissions the engine produces or the size of the engine. My 2.0tdi Q2 has double rear exhausts that uses the exhasuts, much like the diesel A3 i guess?
As a side note, cant wait till you petrol guys all end up with petrol particualte filter..... they are coming!!! beware!!

I know, it wont be any different but im curious due to the marketing. Petrol engines are for lower mileage drivers, diesel for more than 15k per year (give or take). So what do we do now? We are being told that petrol engines are easier to run regens due to heating up quicker and not requiring the time a diesel engine takes to force a regen, but in reality the petrol engines will act very similarly to diesel engines now. @JonW is the only person i know that has a petrol particulate filter so it would be interesting to know what its like in real, every day life.

Interesting review of the S4.
My comment was poking fun at the people commenting on the DPF regens and so on. People with a petrol engine cant wait to jump on the "DPF regen" bandwagon. Are they standard in petrol model Audi's? the S3? If they arent, then my comment stands, they are coming!
Not a physisist and dont claim to be one. But the info you posted is surely the same as what car manfacturers claimed when DPFs first became standard. Noone was told that they had to burn off the soot by doing a trip down the motorway or do more than 15k miles. Im just trying to assertain from a real life perspective what will happen. I dont need physics to tell me that it will be different to a diesel engine. I think thats faily basic knowledge. We have 1 member saying "its pants" and one saying he doesnt even know its happening. Lets get to the bottom of it with real life experiences shall we?

Looks great in Quanttum grey. The interior is a weird one, looks like Audi gave it the VC update and new screen but the rest of interior doesnt seem like its been given the full refresh to be like the A1,Q3 etc.... Is this a midlife facelift?
With the s6 losing 100bhp(~20% less) and going diesel the new s3 will probably be the 2.0 twin turbo diesel with around 240bhp from the current 300bhp wltp model.

Audi have already confirmed the S3 will be staying petrol mate. As it’s only a 2.0 there’s not going to be much gain in term of efficiency. The S6 et al on the other hand are bigger cars and aimed at a different market, so I can see why they’ve gone down the diesel route to give them a bit more torque and economy.
Most A6 / S6 cars on the road are company cars anyway. So you can see Audi's reasoning. It's a shame the S4 has gone Diesel too, but the A4 is a big old bus now, and doubt many private buyers considered it a sports saloon.

I know it’s not official yet but does anyone know roughly when the S3 will be released? Looking online there seems to be some conflicting info on when we can see the new A3 on the roads, ranging from end of this year to March next year. I do hope the S3 is not left until late next year, as ideally I’d like one for the summer if I decide to go for it.

Ok I am not a diesel fan but having done some online research as admittedly have not seen/ driven one in the flesh I do now think I sort of understand where Audi are coming from and a nod to their efforts on feeling & noise. Whether it will work for the S4 remains to be seen.
As for the new A/S/RS 3 - who knows.

It's running ok. Trying to drive it at much as possible to run the new engine in. Needs to go back next week, as dealer has agreed to re-furbish the 2 rear alloys. It also needs the tracking sorting out as the steering wheel is slightly to the left. Not a great deal, but enough to annoy my OCD, lol.
Replacement? Well, I'm about to take procession next week of my late Dad's Hyundia Tuscon 185 TDI. I'm going top run it for a couple months to see if I like it or not. Given we mainly holiday in the UK, it'll take a lot more s**t than the S3 will. It's got 2 years warranty left on it too.
I'm just concerned anything else goes wrong with the S3, it's all money out of my pocket. So take the Tuscon, sell the S3 and Twingo RS, and then next years it's now a toss up between .......
Sell the Tuscon too and buy an A35 AMG Saloon. Or maybe even buy a new RS5. Been very drawn to them now after sitting in a couple of them. Look great in Red.
The other alternative is keep the Tuscon and buy a second hand 911 Carrera T. That's the preferred choice. Though Porsche only have 5 manuals within the network. None of which are the right spec I want.
Sorry to hear about your father glad the cars is running better. I get what you mean about OCD as I’m the same the tiniest of things annoy me. I changed all four of my alloys back in May as I learned the previous set, but I’ve managed to inflict tiny marks on the new set too which annoys me everytime I look at the car lol. It seems the cars are not built to last like they used to, but then I again why would they as they wouldn’t sell any parts or new cars. I would rather go for the RS5 over the A35 but the prices are alarmingly high at present.

Yeah, I was on Audi configurator Saturday, and an RS5 was coming out at just under £70k. An RS4 a Grand or so less. Prefer the look of the RS5, but the RS4 will be more practical. Wouldn't go 5 door RS5 either. To be fair, there's not a lot of options to tick, as both RS4 & 5 come pretty much fully loaded. Will see what discounts are available in a few months. I'm probably going to go 911 though. Nearly bought a Cayman GT4 a few months ago, but the GF wasn't keen. 911 more practical and more GT than road racer.
Plus in 3 years, the RS5 will have lost more than the 911 will have. But it comes down to New v Old..

What on Earth is going on with the droopy headlightsI agree, the VC looks no where near as nice as the one in the existing A3. It kinda looks like a very poor version of the one in the merc A-class.
