Have only had my A3 for a week now and finally got around to plugging in a Carista ODBII Reader and scanning for errors.... Unfortunately it returned 40 :sadlike: :help:

Is it as bad as it looks, and any suggestions as to what may be wrong? There seem to be a lot related to voltage and power?

Thanks in advance!

Have your battery checked first, then you want to check for a ground problem, has the car had a sub fitted at some stage? as they may have messed with supply cables, it could also be codes stored that haven't been cleared, so get them cleared and see what comes up after.

The common denotation is 00538
Here`s what the causes are or solutions.
My bet is your car had a dead battery or the battery is on its way out when it get below 0, or the codes have not been cleared, but could be a loose ground or battery terminal. Check the link below.

Thank you, that link was a great help! - It was sitting under the snow for a few days and hasn't had a good run since so looks like battery is the cause...
If I clear the codes then rescan and they do not reappear, is it safe to assume they are no longer issues/have been fixed previously?

Cheers :)

Yeah pretty much, if nothing comes back after clearing them then everything's alright

I would think your 00858 in Radio will come back as that will be there until you do the lower +upper amp upgrade . There is a post about sorting it on here somewhere

Thanks, will take a look... Sound seems pretty good to me already though, it has the BOSE Factory system.

if it's driving ok, reset the codes, give it a good run, then rescan

if you still have a catalogue of issues and you bought from a trader, send it back for a full refund

Read this which ia about the radio signal . ( http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/converting-symphony-ii-antenna-system-use-with-rnse.67896/ )
Your unit will sound ok but you would get a lot better sound if you have bose from the Bose Amp in the boot . I orginally had the symphony 2 as you had and sound was ok but once i fitted the Rns-e and moved the bose pin to the correct pin number what a noise it makes now ,

Does all point to a duff battery. The car would have been standing around in the dealers a few weeks and the battery often flattens as the car is often moved a few yards around the sales site and people viewing the car like to start it and play with all the electric gizmos to see if they are working.
Were you reading the codes as soon as you started the engine from cold? The fault codes could be just historical and never been cleared over a period of years, if so the battery voltage will be low. You also haven't said there are warning lights on the dash or things don't work.
You need to clear the fault codes and drive the car a fair few miles before you read the fault codes again, if any. If the car is 5 or 6 years old then the battery if coming to the end of it's life, so just change it.
