What else is different on the 1.8T other than the turbo?

Aside from the turbo, what else is different from the standard 1.8?

Can the turbo simply be added or is there a different management system as,well, fuel pump, exhaust, suspension etc?

everything.

most of the engine internals like pistons and camshafts are different, the manifolds, harness and ECU, fuel pump, exhaust etc etc.

if you want to convert, the sensible option is just to buy a complete 1.8T engine, or donor car, but realistically, its not worth the hassle converting it, just sell what you have and buy a factory turbo car.

Ok thank you.

My car is such low mileage, good condition and drives nice etc that if it were a simple case of an add on turbo it might be worth considering.

But I think it's better I keep it as it is.
