What other engine uses the S4 block

basically mine has a cambelt and water pump and stat change due

i can get parts at a discount price from VW, so i wanted to know if the S4 2.7 block was the same as the 2.8 or 2.6 so that i can order the bits from corresponding VWs

Its the same as a 2.8 30v afaik.

Why would you be buying a timing belt from Audi or VW in the first instance?

Just buy a decent quality Gates belt kit from you local factors. Same parts with a different sticker on.

Gates K025493XS Seems to be listed for the S4 and the 2.8 30v and comes with the correct hydraulic tensioner.

its the water pump and the stat im after from the dealer. im tempted by a Gates kit, but eurocarparts sell SKF belt kits too, which id hope have SKF bearings etc so ought to be kick ***

cambelt has done about 50k miles, but the stat is ******, which cant be helping economy

allegedly the cambelt change should take 4.5 hours

as a matter of interest what are the best prices have you been quoted on just the cambelt, and the full cambelt kits ?
