What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Over the past 10 years I’ve fitted:

Double din nav,
Bluetooth,
Ami interface.
Bose,
Cruise,
Interior light pack,
Armrest with telephone bracket,
Front and rear parking sensors
Self park (park assist)
Bi-Xenons with cornering lights,
Folding mirrors on locking,
Digital tv,
Rain and light sensor,
Heating seats,
And most recently DAB.

Safe to say I’ve never had enough time to get everything done how I’d like so this week I’ve had the dash out and tidied up a lot of things. The only person in the world that knew it was a complete mess under the dash was me but the satisfaction of finally sorting out the mess in the pic below was beyond epic

About half way

It’s finally all done and Jesus it feels good.

Sweet mother of god......

What a job but looks tidy! Well done.
You got like a manual for retrofitting the front PDC and parkassist?

Possibly I’ll have a look during the week. If I have I’ll ping it across to you. Depending on the age of the car you need to check a few things. But if you’ve got a gen 3 steering rack I think and a MK60CE abs unit it should be pretty straight forward. Buuuuut I did the retro fit a few years ago now so some details might be fuzzy. I had to change my rack and my abs unit and coding it was a pain as you’re only “supposed” to be able to do it at a dealer. You’d also need to swap out the current parking aid control unit for one with PR Code 7X5.

I cheated and went Kufactec for my front pdc loom and added the extra wires for the outer sensors and button before fitting everything.

If you google mk6 golf park assist retrofit that should give some light on it if those posts are still kicking about

I have a MJ 2011 and rear sensors already installed. So my guess is that I only need to swap the 4 channel pdc unit for a 8 one. But have no clue where the unit is located gehehe.

This is where I bought my fronts. Because the post has gone to **** and they’re quite close to me I went to pick them up (whilst out for other essentials) and got talking to them about how I was just fitting OEM to the rear. 20 minutes and 30 quid later my rears matched my fronts....

Ordered a honeycomb grille for my A3 since the previouse owner broke the original grille. (€117,-)
Also ordered some mat black audi logo for the front and rear with that (€13,- front / €8,- rear)
And last but not least ordered myself a rear spoiler from the Audi dealership, Votex roofspoiler (€200,-)

fitted the sweeping mirror indicators. kinda pointless, and very subtle, but it was cheap to do so

Passenger door started refusing to unlock on the central locking.
Only way to open it was from the inside.....which annoyed my wife waiting for me to get in the car to let her in
So ordered new door mechanism from eBay for £27 delivered. Fitted it in prob an hour and jobs a good un.

Decided to sit in my car and chill while I vaped instead of sitting on the step as the sun was hiding away.

One random “pop” later and booked in with autoglass. Nothing external the screen just genuinely popped while I was sat in the car. Can’t believe how random it was but yeah that’s what I’ve done so far this week lol.

I am however working on a QI charger as I’ve got rid of the ashtray I kinda feel a wireless charger would be nice in the tray now I’ve got one of these to run my phone and highly recommend it.

Woah, random. Never heard that a window popped out of nowhere though.

Keep posting about the QI thing, was thinking about doing the same fit since I've got a free wireless charger. I want to break it and integrate it in the midconsole somewhere. Love to see some ideas.

Got the grille i've ordered with logo placeholder. Costs me €117. Think I'm going to fit it this saturday .

Just test fitted it and it works a treat, I had to carefully hack to bits the wireless charger and keep the internals safe. I also had to take out the upright bits of the plastic tray with a pair of close snips then sand it all flat. I need to either find a 5v supply (possibly from the phone cradle) or just buy a car phone charger to give me 12v to 5v and put it on an fused ignition live but After I tidy it all up and secure it I’ll be very happy I only had the idea last night .

Yeah the rear screen freaked me right out I live in a street where most of the residents are 60+ so even if I did see someone throw something none of them would have had the strength. Luckily I work on the railway so the windscreen people seem keen to get it done quick. Though my mrs Ibiza (top right in pic) is always there. Probably shouldn’t admit to it but that thing is fun lol.

I’ll post a guide or something when everything’s done but for now some pics... please excuse the mess I’ve had the car 11-12 years haha

Very nice but get a black audi logo

Already in order yep, but didn't want to leave it blank so the Chrome does it for now .

I personally like it with chrome rims. I would match the matte black grill with matte black fog light surroundings

Is it an eBay grill?

I bought it of a Dutch company, but think they get it from eBay yep.

I'm looking for the foginserts with honeycomb aswell, do they even exsist though?

I searched for those and could not find any. That's the main reason I am considering a normal black edition grill instead of the honeycomb one.

If you find them let us know

There’s honeycomb fog light covers for the pfl if that’s any use to you?
