Bit the bullet and had ordered a Trackstar TM470 more for piece of mind than anything else. Has anyone else gone done the tracker route?
How much do they cost ? My S3 is due on 1st Sept. and I'm thinking of getting a tracker fitted . But have no idea of how much they cost
Thanks for the info. That's more than I was expecting . I'm pushing it money wise just to able to buy the car. Will def get Gap insurance and hope for the best !I paid £1045 for my Vodafone CobraTrak 5 in the S3. Then it's a £215 a year subscription. On reflection, I think next time for the RS I might pay the same money and get a better alarm system overall... not sure how that stands up with warranty though.

I'm getting a Cobra tracker fitted on the 2/9/17 the day I collect my S3. I cant tell you what deal I'm getting because it's through a friend but he retails them at £850inc, fitted, with a lifetime subscription. or £600ish with a years subscription.
For me it's worth having because I've lost my NCB and insurance is already so expensive for me. If I had to make a theft claim then I would really struggle to pay the insurance, or at least it would not be worth paying the price for it.
It's a discrete colour, 3 door, and a hidden away driveway. But the peace of mind is there.
I am in the "whats the point" camp when it comes to trackers especially at that price. Over 4 years of ownership that's an outlay of £2k to possibly increase the chance of getting back a stolen car that's been totally shagged. IMHO do whatever you feel is enough to reduce the risk of it being taken in the first place (Home alarm, good locks at home, CCTV, dashcam) Then if you have GAP (£150- 200 over the same period) if its gone its gone and go buy a new one.
£1750 saved is the same as a pretty decent weeks holiday, or an extra weekend away every year, for you and your Mrs/partner /other half...no brainer for me
