Audi A4 B7 Grill/Number plate recess confusion. Please help?..

Hello im new on here and soon to be buying a 56/07 plate A4 B7. Already got many plans for it one of which is paining the chrome grill surround and the grey rectangular slots of the grill black. I'd also like the number plate recess smoothed ive seen quite a lot like this but never known how its done? Has it just been smoothed buy a body shop or can you just buy a smoothed number plate recess or whole new grill with smoothed number plate recess? Searched everywhere and still cant figure it out! Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction please? Ive tried uploading a picture to show what it is im aiming for on the front end to help show what im talking about haha.

Genuine question, what's the point of these? is it so the plate can be removed at a show or something leaving a smooth plate holder to look at?
