How much ?
You should be a politician , lol .
Approx £ ?
£4.86 x the amount of times you have to replace it as they are crap as OEM. - just my opinion not my money xD. personally id advise upgradingHmmm , £77.63 Vs £4.86 .
It's worth mentioning that an uprated harder polyurethane snub mount is best left for the smoother idle of petrol models .
If fitted particularly to a 4 pot derv it will probably transmit a vibration at idle , this is where the oem black rubber is best .
You can't beat the V6 rubber one, it's stiffer than the foam based one, it also eliminates the top and bottom air gap but does retain a small gap either side. This to me is the best all round mount for money vs performance &a comfort while still offering better handling etc.
Price to performance yes its probably worth it... as for handling? the snub mount makes no change to the cars "handling" what so ever.
The snub mount is there only and soul purpose is to make sure the engine stays aligned to the rest of the drivetrain. which also isolates driver and engine vibrations. The only noticeable difference you will ever see is while shifting when worn you will find it more difficult and the get more driveline shock through the car.
(yeah I'm an audi technician) I've seen people change these out for aftermarket ones on a daily basis due to the OEM one just being so poor.
you must know more about audi's and how the snub mount works while knowing what it actually does more than the designer does then (y), I'm not going to argue with you if that's what you want to think go ahead... but you are wrong.I'm sorry mate but that's ********, of course it's going to affect the handling as it has in my case and it will also affect how the car puts down power.
If you have a worn engine mount that's allowing the engine to move around under acceleration, cornering and braking of course that will affect the handling of the car as the engine weight is shifting around.
Same principal again for accelerating, if the mounts worn its allowing the drivetrain to move around and preventing the engine transferring the torque correctly to the wheels etc.
Well chaps, I took the car out earlier on and all I can say is WOW.
The car is totally transformed. The cabin does have a slight bit of vibration on idle but I mean slight, also the exhaust is slightly louder, that's it though.
The rest is all positive. Gone was the rumble of the transmission when pulling off and the shaking associated with it, the car also picks up better, stops better and handles so so much better, its like a totally different car.
I can't quite believe how much a £12 mount has changed the car.
The proper test will be tomorrow when I'm in the car be myself and travelling to work, I have to go down several miles of windy country road so we'll see if I think it's still as good then when I've given it some hammer.
What's the rest of your suspension detail ?
