AmD remap - a bit disappointed :(

Hi all, just had my car remapped at AmD essex and I'm slightly disappointed with the results. My car is running completely stock at the moment, attached is the rolling road result before and after the map...it seems power is significantly dropping after around 5000 revs...is this normal? Spoke to them and they said it was down to the inlet temperature reaching above 55C hence ECU holding back. I'm also worried that the car was generating so little power beforehand...certainly didn't feel that bad :/

Forgot to add, they also said its a very humid day, and it was done on 95 ron which all make a significant impact....

Running your car on 95 is like watching porn without sound, it's never going to be good as it could be.

:D right okay, I know its very hard to say but how much of a difference would using vpower be in terms of bhp figures?

I'd use the 30 day not satisfactory money back guarantee with them.

Fill the car up with V power then book in with Badger5 or R Tech tbh.

Do they suggest on their website to arrive with 100% super unleaded ?

Some maps elsewhere are minimum 98 super unleaded only maps , but afterwards if caught short with 95 one would have to drive gingerly off boost .

Well I asked if there was any prep required and they said just being it with a fuel in....they didn't mention any spec although I probably should have remembered. They did say that using a better fuel will result in much better performance and that the map is more suited to vpower etc....

I am just wondering if that massive drop in power directly after 5000rpm is normal?

Really? What makes you say this? The car has had a significant increase in power and torque through the majority of the rev range...I'm not criticising their work, more so my car!

Hmmm turbo was replaced around 30k miles ago, sureley they would have picked it up if it was weak?

Only if they ran it up and logged it. If they flashed a generic stage one in then they'd be none the wiser

Just logged boost pressure on vcds (3rd gear WOT) and got these results..should I be concerned that it doesn't seem to be holding 20psi?

Ah okay, is there a reason for the dip in requested boost? Is this usual? Sorry I'm very new to all of this! Thanks for the help :)

As somone mentioned car is made to use minimum 97ron on my fuel flap its says 95/98 ron

Why people buy performance cars and run 95 Ron I'll never know. Guy was at CC tuning a few weeks ago, focus RS, asda petrol, stupid.

I remember watching a car show on TV a couple years back, can't remember if it was top gear or not. But they were testing out a supercar ran something like 730bhp but if ran on 95ron the power was calculated to being 670bhp! Huge difference just because of the fuel you use. VPower Nitro+ all the way I say!

The closest shell petrol station to plymouth is a half a hour drive away :( i always run mine on Tescos 99 unless im passing a shell garage, then it gets treated to a full tank of vpower

Bit of a pain isn't it, don't understand why there isn't one near town.

Massive pain, mine has done almost all of it's miles since it's map at bills on tescos 99 (was mapped on vpower) and it's thankfully always ran fine

Do you guys think its worth getting a refund and trying somewhere else? The thing is...it is a good map, significant HP gains across most of the rev range....what are peoples opinions?

The map can't work miracles, especially if you're using poverty petrol and your hardware isn't upto scratch (you mentioned high inlet temps).

That's understandable, in terms of reducing inlet temps, fmic the best way forward?

The standard twin ones are **** once mapped. They're adequate for a stock car but in my opinion a fmic is a must for stage 1 and over. Get a decent fmic and you will notice the difference. A lot recommend wellycooler's (eBay), I have an airtec and can say it made a big improvement, I gained 7bhp and 10lb ft more peak and big gains under the curve at stage 1

Lies!!!!

South Brent 15 mins North.

Trerulefoot is 15 mins south

If there's no traffic! trerulefoot always has traffic because people can't drive and crash too much around those roads! south brent is my usual shell stop off, thats still 25 mins from my house according to google maps (legal speeds) :p

Also to keep this on topic, when bill mapped my a3, he said the lack of a FMIC was massively holding the car back on power, i haven't been back since i fitted my FMIC, the build is finished as far as im concerned, just need to make the call to book it in.

Refund why?

because you stuck **** fuel in it?

c'mon fella.. Take some responsibility yourself

Apologies I think that came across wrong. I was just referring to an earlier post by kwistof, like I said previously, it is a good map and I have gained substantial hp and torque over the majority of the rev range, I'm not blaming AmD...quite the opposite, they were really friendly and as far as I am concerned did a good job :) I'm just disappointed at the results is all and was wondering if more light could be shed on the large reduction in power after peak....

I understand crappy fuel was a bad call on my part,

All in all (like AmD said) I think it's due to the engine holding back due to inlet temperatures exceeding 55C....
