Pretty much as the title says, just wondered if anybody had ever came across there old car after selling on... Only to find the new owner wasn't quite so considerate.

I came across my S3 8P on eBay at the weekend. I sold it in September, mortified when I saw it

What a shame.

Some people don't know how to look after a good thing(assuming it was their fault of course....)

Last time I came across one of my old cars was when I was served with a fixed penalty notice on said car.

Owner was nabbed speeding and hasn't done his DVLA forms etc etc so I got the notice, until the police got the real details.

My first car was a nova, was my grandads car and i got it when he died, only had 32,000miles on it.
I had it for 3yrs and sold it to someone my dad worked with and then he sold it on to some young lads who shared it.

It ended up being abandoned after they blew a hole in the engine. My mum worked for the council at the time so she ended up being the one who arranged for it to be collected and crushed :(

Was a lovely car.

Ahh bet you were gutted JimmyO, like S3Alex said, some people don't know how to look after good things.

I had so much love for that car and to see it like that is heartbreaking haha

Thats awful guys, I have just sold my corolla, hope it doesn't share the same fate

I've had that twice. First one was an absolutely fantastic MKII Escort RS Group 1, all factory fitted extras in a standard droop snoot body.
I asked the guy who bought it if he had ever driven anything that quick, to which he replied, "ach aye, it's only an RS".
Wrecked it before he got home 60 miles away, I should never have sold it to him, it was like giving drink to a minor...!
Second one was a MK1 XR2, it lasted 24 hours before being trashed. It was damaged in a collision with a Clydesdale Horse before I sold it but the new owner blew up the poor old crossflow, rendering it pretty well f***ed.

The horse was alright, by the way...!

Hey I sold a corolla to buy my A3 too!

Regret it to be honest, nothing like 'diesel in and drive' motoring I tell you! Should have kept it to run around in and bought a S3...

Many moons ago (when i still owned it) my Mk3 Golf GTI16v was written off when some clown drove into the back of us at traffic lights. Bout two years later i saw it (repaired) in the car park at the elsecar VW show :ambivalence:

S3 AEX, thats the exact look I want for my S3! All I need is that black badge and black tint on the lights. I know this is off topic but how did you get that badge black like that?

And on subject of past owned cars the Golf MK5 which was my first car that I modified is now owned by a good friend of mine and I still see it at every local meet and when he pops around and the 2nd which is a G60 Corrado has just had a full respray by the new owner and is getting a proper restoration (something I didn't have time for) so for me its so far so good :D

Cheers Jake! Are these quite easy to fit or does it require taking the whole grille off just to get to the clips?

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/281002570514?nav=SEARCH this is the exact one I bought and the lights cost me £15 a side to have tinted, I had them done by a tinting company to make sure I didn't mess them up ;) .. As jake says it's really easy to replace, when you get the badge you'll see exactly where the clips are, just use a really thin flat head to pop the clips out.

Nice one, thank you for the help guys!

I'll have a search for tinting companies near me, I also worried I'd mess it all up :p Is it Lamin-X you used or just normal window tint?

Also, how easy is it to remove the rear badge? I want to get that changed to black also but Im wondering if its easier just to get it plasti-dipped instead of removing it and then trying to align it back up properly again.

Here is what she looked like in her glory days haha...
By the way I got both sets of black rings and the black S3 badge off eBay. The rear rings I heated slightly to looses the glue and slowly prised away with a soft card and t shirt wrapped around, as mentioned the front ones require a flat blade screwdriver to pop the prongs out.

Cheers for the info S3orge. I'll give that a go if I'm feeling brave enough.

No worries, it's honestly not difficult at all, just take your time with it and they will come off easy enough. I don't know whether you plan to reuse your original front rings again but if not it isn't the end of the world if you snap a prong off.

Must have been a sad moment to see your former pride & joy in this state. Lucky you've got another one now.

I was going to use Lamin-x but was told it can cause issues with mot. The stuff they did my lights with was totally uk road legal, it's got tiny holes in it kinda like a gauze. The back badge is easy too, I used boiling water from the kettle to loosen it then as S3orge says just start to ease it off with something flat and covered as to not scratch the car. I marked mine with some chalk so I knew exactly where it was going back on, you could use that method or use measurement's. I used the chalk as it doesn't mark the car in any way and wipes straight off.

Yea it was a pretty sad time. Obviously i sold it for a price i was happy with but that doesn't take away the emotional attachment we seem to get to our cars does it! Especially when you see it smashed up. Yes i'm lucky enough to have a new shape now, which doesn't fail to make smile :):kissmyrings:

Cheers for the link. I found this one, as it comes with a rear badge also: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171650158616?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

In your link it says its 260mm wide and this one I found says 273mm. Sounds stupid I know but would that be too big, or are those just rough measurements?

Sorry I linked you to the TT badge, yes the S3 badge is 273mm. Make sure you state to the seller gloss black not matte cos some can have a tendency to send the matte, as for which eBay seller I don't think it will matter as all the badges will be the same quality as there mass produced.
