Australia advice / recommendations needed

Hi all,

I'm due to go to Australia to work for a few months. Does anybody have any recommendations of places to go/visit and things to do?
Also any general advice on Australia would be very much appreciated.
Not sure where I'm going yet but good chance I will get to travel.
