Hi guys, I have had a problem with my A3, started to notice a leak under the car and it was all over my trap, subframe and gaiter, cleaned it with brake cleaner (awesome stuff) and left it over night... Got under it the following morning and it is coming from the driveshaft seal.. I have noticed a very bad whining in 1st especially, clearly the gearbox has been running pretty much dry and is F**ked! Have located a gearbox near me for £200, do you guys reckon I am doing the right thing in getting a new gearbox instead of just changing the seal (which is a horrible job) and just topping it up and hoping the gearbox hasn't gone?
