Hi

Have a 2004 8p1 sport

I have bought a new 8p2 bonnet and s line bumper

However when fitting it , the crashbar is pushing the bumper forward so it wont fit.
Have taken the car to a bodyshop and they are also having same problem.

Have read loads of guides etc and it says should be no problem with the crashbar.

Anyone else had this problem?

You have to shave diagonally of the bottom corners of the bar to make 05-08 fit, iirc from my installs its bout 30-40mm up the sides across to 200mm across the bottom, been a while tbh as most get new bars, but you get the idea.

Thanks for quick reply.

Will pass the info on to my bodyshop guy and see if we can get it on

You sure you got the correct bumper?
I've gone from 8p1 sport to 8p2 S-line with no problems.

The S-Line bumper should be a straight fit.
Only the S3 bumper needs the crash bar cut as NHN advised.

Went to have a look today,
Without the crashbar the bumper still sits higher than the mounting holes on the slampanel.

Is there any piece that sits in between the slampanel and top holes of the bumper?

Put on the old bumper to try test fit.
As you can see there is almost a inch gap inbetween the mounting hole and slam panel.

Not sure what to do
Any help guys

If this is your old bumper then i would be asking myself what muppets are messing with my car ! if they took it off then it should go straight back on , there obviously not aligning it correctly for it to fit .

Should have mentioned car was involved in a accident.
Think i mentioned in another thread and not this one :keule:

New slampanel has been fitted and all wings and bonnet aligned.
Just the bumper.

Everything is bolted on properly. Chassis is not bent etc
So not sure how to get it to line up

Something's probably just snagging it and preventing it coming forward?

just the slam panel ? or the whole front where the rad is . has anyone checked to see if the bumper protection bar is on the correct way ? can it be placed upside down or maybe the crash absorbtion bars that hold the metal bumper protection bar the correct ones .

I would be laid under neath the car looking up at the bumper whilst it is been fitted looking for obvious signs of why it wouldn't fit . I cant believe people working in garages and body shops call themselves competent ,but cant work out why the parts dont fit . common sense is required .

saying that similar experience only a week ago , bodyshop phoned and said rear bumper wont fit on car about a 2" gap between back quarters and bumper edge ,went up to bodyshop ,theyt were trying to fit the new bumper to the car with the new rear bumper protection bar taped to the inside of it ,to the car with a bumper protection bar already fitted . complete idiots.

Slam panel and radiator, so whole front end basically.
Bought used but it all came bolted together.

So was literally bolt off bolt on of the old slam panel with the replacement.

Crash absorption bars were bought brand new with matching p/n to the old ones.
Crash bar only goes on one way as one end has the whole for the towbar.

Will go down myself when i get a chance and hopefully get in on the ramp and have a proper look.

Ok bodyshop has got it all lined up nice now without the crashbar.

With the crashbar it still pushes out slightly.
But almost there now
