Hi all

I have done a scan for DTC's on my Audi A3 2.0 TDI 2004 and I have the following 2 DTC's. I didn't even think my car had an Aux Heater? I have looked through the manual and the fuse (F30) is the only thing that mentions the Aux Heater, and there isn't even a fuse in that spot anyway. Can anyone advise?

I saw mention of it in my manual - didn't really pay attention because it warms up reasonably quickly, I've got heated seats anyway, and it's never cold enough here to need it. Could it be right that ere are two additional heaters possible, one in every TDI (because it takes longer to warm up) and one for cars exported to cold countries?

Auxiliary Heater mentioned in your VCDS reading warms up the cold air before the coolant reaches the temperature, heating up the air coming through the air vents as soon as you start the engine.

I'm getting theses faults and I spoke to Tps and they said it's not fitted to my car

There may be some confusion over the term. In Scandinavian countries you can spec an auxiliary heater which is designed to warm the car up in the morning before use. You can set a time for it to come on. That option isn't available in the UK though (I tried to spec it myself).

The heater element mentioned by SAiLO probably has a different name but it's certainly fitted to TDIs.

Hello mates,

I have the exact problem with Auxiliary Heater - when I do VCDS scan of my Audi A3 1.9 TDI 2005 (BKC engine) I got the following errors:

I can clear all errors in all modules except in Address 7D: Aux. Heat module where I can't clear 0361 - Heater Element for Auxiliary Heater (Z35) error!

I'm not sure that I have Auxiliary Heater in my car as I saw in some others threads people removed the climatronic board to look for dry joints without the need to remove it because they don't have Auxiliary Heater on their car.

If I don't have Auxiliary Heater in my car why I get VCDS errors related to that???

I have a petrol so not clued up on the Tdi but when i read something thats intermittent to me that rings electrical so may loose wire somewhere and the element part that again to me would be something that is broken so needs replaced ie oven , kettle springs to mind
Now i would say in your service book you would have 3digit or letter codes so if you got them translated from Audi it should i guess tell you if you have an Aux heater in your car . Just my thoughts lads.
Check this site out if not already done so (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00361 ).
As for the 00483 cant find nothing on site for that

As far as I have read all TDIs have the Auxilliary Heater, fitted due to how slowly Diesels tend to be, heating up on colder mornings, see here; http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113468 incidentally I have the same codes. It should be wired through a 100amo fuse, the big ones at the front of the main fusebox, third from the right, see pic below. I haven't tackled mine yet so be interested how you get on :)

Yes, I've read that thread also. But that guy is telling how to install Aux Heater on Golf MK5 that doesn't have it installed originally by fabric.

I could't find a video or detail pictures how to remove auxiliary heater on A3 8p step by step and how to install it again.

P.S. I should check those 100A fuse and relay these days but from experience of others from different forums problem is probably in dry joints of auxiliary heater PCB board or something else to do with electronic of PCB board!

You may be right, everything that has gone wrong with my A3 recently has been to do with various "controllers" and strangely despite all the people who seem to have the codes, I haven't heard of anyone actually replacing the element. I don't suppose you know where the controller is? From experience it may just be a relay but I don't really know?
