I have noticed recently that when I start the car the fans are turning on straight away even when the car is cold. Now I only realised this as normally when I start the car I stay inside the car and turn on the radio. The last few times since the weather has been nice I jump out after starting and have a quick puff ;)

The revs stay at 900rpm like normal, I always thought the fans should turn on when the car is warm. Can someone explain if this is normal for an Audi or not??????

thank you for reading

No it's not normal, it means you need a new fan assembly and they are around £300 fitted. It's a common problem on the A3, Golf, Leon etc...

It's not ideal, and will put strain on battery.

Mine did this on 8P2, cost £300 to have it fixed. I thought it may just be a sensor, but no such luck.

Was 300 pounds for a brand new fan assembly? did you get it replaced by Audi?

Would it best to get it checked first as it might be a sensor??

I got a second hand part and had it fitted by Storm Developments in Aldermaston.

Sensor was wishful thinking on my behalf, supposedly fan units just go on these. Mine went 8 days outside my 3 year warranty ending and dealer didn't want to know!
